rj<t'

~
::0
~
l')
~

The matter of a corporation court recoTder was dis-
cussed. The Council was reminded that Mr. James Burwell, City
Sanitarian now acting as Tecorder, would be ineligible as soon as
the City-County Health Unit went into operation. The City ManageT
was directed to contact the Hays County Bar Association for a
recommendation regarding the recorder.

The City Manager presented a preliminary plan for
street resurfacing and paving for the Fiscal Year 1961-62, con-
sisting of some 58 blocks. He reported that Type D Hot-mix could
be obtained, during April and May, from the H. B. Zachry plant on
the Blanco River at a price of $3.85 per ton fob the plant. The
program as outlined would cost the City some $l3,000.00 for mate-
rials and labor. Alderman Sutton moved the adoption of the plan,
seconded by Alderman Hillburn and carTied.

I

A recommendation by Alderman Sutton that the City
hold "open house" sometime during April and invite the general
public to visit the various departments was discussed and tabled
for further consideration. It was the general opinion of the
Council that this would afford the citizens an oppoTtunity to
view the operations of the city government.

The Council considered the matter of the joint
County-City recreational area at Canyon Reservoir. Alderman
Hillburn introduced a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to
proceed with the application for a license for a public park and
recreational area from the Department of the Army and authorizing
the City Manager to sign the necessary application on behalf of
the City. This motion was seconded by Alderman Sutton and ,carried.

The City Manager reported that he had received a
bid for marking cross walks at intersections, paTking lanes, etc.
at a price as cheap or cheapeT than the City could do the work.
It was the unanimous decision of the Council that a test pattern
be made and, if satisfactory, the project be continued. The
price of 2-3/4~ per foot for a 4" line, guaranteed for one year,
was believed to be satisfactory.

I

AfteT discussion of the need for additional trans-
portation by the Police Department, Alderman Beecroft made a
motion that the City Manager turn over the 1961 Plymouth he is
driving to the Police Department and ask for bids for a car for
the use of the City Manager. Alderman Hillburn seconded, and
the motion carried.

There being no further business, the Council, on
motion, adjourned at 2.45 P.M. to reconvene at 2.00 o'clock on
Tuesday, March 21st.

<-Cf '
James Tutt1~, Mayor Pro

Jp.~ fJ'f'
" '-- i ct /t/l ' ,{ /^'"
S-:--- R.
