<br />~ <br />:::0 <br />~ <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />Alderman Sutton reported on his survey regarding a curfew law <br />for teenagers. Alderman Sutton stated that he found the PIA organiza- <br />tion's had disbanded and that few of the parents contacted seemed to be <br />interested in the enforcement of such a law. Alderman SuttonCstated he <br />preferred to withdraw his suggestion for council action on this matter. <br /> <br />Mr. Garland Stokes reported that the airport committee had not <br />completed their work and that he did not have a report at this time. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller reported $11,381.40 on hand for investment <br />in the Trust F~nd account for perpetual care of the San Marcos Cemetery. <br /> <br />Alderman Korff introduced an ordinance and moved its adoption. <br />The Ordinance is captioned: <br /> <br />^ c: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES FOR THE USE AND SUPPORT OF THE <br />MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AND <br />TO PROVIDE A SINKING FUND FOR THE RETIREMENT OF THE BONDED <br />DEBT OF SAID CITY. <br />The ordinance. was read in fuHand the motion of adoption was seconded by <br />Alderman Sutton. Upon roll call the ayes and nayes were as follows; <br />'c Ayes; Allen, Hillburn, Korff, Ruiz, Sutton, and Younger <br />Nayesl None <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the ordinance passed, approved and adopted. <br /> <br />Mayor Allen entertained motions for naming and appointing the <br />members to serve on the Board of Equalization for the tax year 1961. <br />Alderman Sutton moved that Mr. C. C. Wade be appointed as one of a team <br />of three. The motion died for want of a second. The Councrl unanimously <br />agreed that the city manager contact Mr. Searcy Smith, Mr. Cullen Crews, <br />Mr. Andy Moon and Mr. C. C. Wade and 'note their availability to Serve. <br /> <br />Mayor Allen presented and asked the Secretary to read a <br />tion from the Library Board. In addition to the resolution which <br />the library location remain where it is, Alderman Sutton reported <br />the library group prefers to'library site to remain where it is. <br />Allen after some discussion; asked the city Manager to notify the <br />Board that the council unanimously supports this preference~ <br /> <br />resolu- <br />.requests <br />that <br />Mayor <br />Library <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller suggested that the council appoint a <br />committee to act: in naming the new Army Reserve Training Center in Memorial <br />Park and that the council take part in the dedication. Alderman Korff <br />made the motion that a committee be comprised of one candidate fr~m <br />each of the fcllowing organizations; Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs, <br />Veterans of Foreign Wars and auxilary, American Legion and Auxiliary, <br />and the Gold Star Mothers. Work shOUld begin immediately on this project. <br />Alderman Hillburn seconded and upon roll call the ayes and nayes were as <br />fo llows: ' <br /> <br />Ayes: Ailen, Hillburn, Korff, Ruiz,. Sutton, Younger <br />Nayes: None <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the motion carriep. <br /> <br />The local National Guard H~adquarters would like to construct <br />a fenced motor pool at the Armory site in Memorial Park. FVnds for this <br />are limited and any assistance the City and/or County could give in pro- <br />viding gravel for tQe base would benefit the project. Alderman Sutton <br />made the motion to ask the county to belp on the project but that the <br />city will process the work under any consideration. After some discussion <br />Alderman Sutton asked to withdraw hi 5 motion. Alderman Hillburn moved <br />that Alderman Sutton and the Commander of the local National Guard Unit <br />contact the county about processing the work needed. Alderman Korff second- <br />ed and upon roll call the ayes and naves were as follows: <br />Ayes: Allen, Hillburn, Korff, Sutton, Ruiz, Younger <br />Nayes; None <br />Whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br />
