I

The Texas State Highway Department has revised its manual
"Regulations for access Driveways to State Highways", The latest
revision is dated September 1960. It was the opinion of the City
Council that the City should adopt, as a revision of the City's
Building Code, the Urban portion of this manual. The City Manager
was directed to draft an ordinance of adoption for the next council
meeting."

The City Manager reported on the damage done to the City
by Hurricane CARLA. He complimented Radio Station KCNY for its
part in keeping the people informed. Mr. Marvin Midkiff reported
on the refugee problem and other matters regarding the emergency.

Alderman Younger requested the City Manager to investi-
gate how New Braunfels had installed the sprinkler system on the
grass area of the Interestate through New Braunfels and if the cost
was not excessive to see if the same arrangement could be worked
for San Marcos.

The City Manager reported that the power at Police De-
partment had been off from 1:00 P.M. until after 9:30 A.M. the
next day during the hurricane and that the police radio had to
be rUn from an emergency generator furnished by LCRA. He sug-
gested that the City make an offer to the Soldiers and Sailors
Memorial Hospital of $200.00 for the auxiliary power unit they
had. Alderman Korff made a motion that the offer be made which
was seconded by Alderman Hillburn and carried unaminously.

The Council on motion adjourned on motion at 4:40 P.M.

I

ATTEST:

I
I
II

~~1// e ~

City Secretary

-';'-'-T
/c
Herman Korff, I\lderrnafl I
