<br />18!. <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 10, 1961 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />On the lOth of October, 1961, at 2;00 o'clock in the after- <br />neon the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos met in regular <br />session in the City Hall, Mayor C. Reed <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor <br />Alderman <br /> <br />Guests <br /> <br />Mrs. Roland Manske <br />Tom Buckner, RECORD <br />Mrs. Jerry Veidt, KCNY <br />Bryan Ba ld'ridge <br />Jim Hill <br /> <br />The minutes of the meeting of September 9th were approved <br />as corrected and the minutes of the meeting of October 3rd were <br />approved. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alderman Sutton made a motion that whenever possible in the <br />future, the Council be notified at least 24 hours prior to any special <br />meeting of the city council. This Resolution was seconded by Alder- <br />man Korff. The ayes and nays were as follows: <br />Ayes; Allen, Hillburn, Korff, Ruiz, Sutton, and Younger. <br />Nays: None <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the Resolution passed and approved. <br /> <br />Alderman Sutton introduced a motion that the press and <br />radio station be advised of all meetings of the City Council both <br />regular and special. The motion was seconded by Alderman Ruiz and <br />carried. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that the San Marcos Baptist <br />Academy had pU~chased the required land from the Smith Brothers <br />(Edwin and Max) and the City could now proceed with the opening of <br />Moore Street northward to connect with Grace Street. It was deemed <br />advisable that a ~ion of the street be relocated to the east of <br />the property to get a better grade. It was suggested that the <br />County Surveyor prepare the flecessary field notes regarding the <br />change. Alderman Younger introduced a resolution directing the Mayor <br />or Mayor Pro-Tern to accept the new right-of-way. This Resolution <br />was seconded by Alderman Korff. The ayes and nays were as follows: <br />Ayes: Allen, Hillburn, Korff, Ruiz, Sutton, and Younger. <br />Nays: None , <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the Resolution passed and approved. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alderman Younger introduced an ordirance and moved its <br />adoption. The Ordinance is entitled: <br />AN ORDINANCE VACAUNG, CLOSTNG AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF <br />MOORE STREET; CONVEYING SAID PORTION OF MOORE STREET TO <br />THE SAN MARCOS BAPTlST ACADEMY IN EXCHANGE FOR THE CON- <br />VEYANCE BY SAID ACADEMY TO THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS OF A <br />PORTION OF ITS REAL PROPERTY; AND AUTHORIZING THE CON- <br />StRUCtION OF A STREET TRAVERSING A PORTION OF MOORE <br />STREET AND SAID REAL PROPERTY TO BE CONVEYED TO THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS BY SAID ACADEMY. <br />
