q ~

The City Manager ~eported that work had been started on
waterproofing Fire Station No.3. To date only the sandblasting add
waterproofing had been done at a cost of $628.00. The painting will
be done by local forces. The waterproofing ca~ries a five(5) year
guarantee.

I

The City Manager reported on Cause No. 7841, a suit in
the 22nd Judicial District Court, involving the partition of a ten
acre t~act of land belonging to Jose Cruz et al. This land lies
within the city limits and the Court's partition had not taken into
consideration the City's subdivision requirements. In as much as
the City Attorney was involved in the litigation and was automatically
barred from representing the city, Alderman Sutton made a motion,
seconded by Alderman Younger that Attorney Tom Oliver be retained
to ~epresent the City to see that its interest was protected as re-
quests for utility extensions had been made upon the city to serve
the area. The motion carried unaminously.

The Council upon a motion made by Aldeman Ruiz, seconded
by Alderman Sutton, and carried unaminously, granted the City Manager
permission to be absent from the City on October 24-27 to make the
instructional tour of the missle bases and North American Air De-
fense Control Center conducted by the Army known as "Operation Under-
standing". The City Manager was instructed to name an acting manager
to act during his abscence.

A report was made on the paving which is being done with
the materials which are being purchased from the contractor fur-
nishing the "hot-mix" for the portion of Interstate 35 north of the
Blanco River Bridge.

I

The City Manager reported that the letter from the Mayor
and the Resolution passed by the Council at the Special Meetingof
October 3rd had permitted District 14 to effectively present the
Council's protest against the $35,400 assessment for drainage along
certain portions of Interstate 35.

The Council agreed to study the so called "key fines" as
requested by the Corporation Court Recorder and make their decision
at a later date when more information is made available to them.

The Council was presented with a six month comparison of
income and expenditures compared with the budgeted figures for both
the General Fund and Utility Fund as well as a trial balance of
both funds.

There being no further business the Council, on motion,
adjourned at 4:10 P.M.

(0 1l~ a1!lurJ

c.
