M. Allen presiding. <br />Presents., Mayor C. M, Allen <br />Alderman B. D. Hlllburn <br />Hereoan Korff <br />Ruben Ruia <br />Kenneth Sutton <br />J. E. Younger, Jr. <br />City Manager B. R. Fu1Ler , <br />City Secretary GeAxge C. Reed <br />Guests:` Mrs. Roland Maske,;Mr. James Hill,; Mr. Aim <br />Miehalec, Mr. Garland Stokes,; Mr. Tom Buckner <br />of the RECORD, and Mrs. Jerry Yeidt of KCHY. <br />., <br />The minutes of the meeting of December 13, 1961 were read, <br />and approved. <br />1 <br />Mr. Garland Stokes presented a Proclamation for "Qualify to <br />Vote Weeks and asked the Mayor for his copperation in issuingthe, pro- <br />clamation for this week. This was agreeable with the Mayor. <br />The City Manager reported that the State ,and Federal agencies <br />had approved the issuing of the contract for the relocation of the <br />utilities on Interstate 35 to .the Kavanaugh Construction Company and <br />' that the Work Order had been issued an December 30, i9b1. <br />- .The matter of State Inspection of-the local slaughter plant, <br />owned by the Hughson,N~at Caopany, was discussed. It was repmrted that <br />the local owners were wemking with Mr. Terry Jacks to obtain State <br />Approval or State Inspection. No action was taken by the Council. <br />Mr. Norman Jackson, City Meat Inspector, had requested ,a <br />leave of absence from his position in order to enter tAe...primarq for <br />County Judge. After considerable discussion, Alderman Younger made a <br />motion that a city empolyee be granted a 90 day leave of absence eon- <br />tingeert upon the condition that there was no hardship on the City, <br />that h"is doh could be taken care of during his absence and that it be <br />without any additional cost to the City for training or other costs. <br />The action was seconded by Alderman Hillburn and upon roll sell the <br />ayes and pays weree <br />Ayers Allen, Hillbearn, Korff, Ruiz, and Xounger. <br />Hayess Nane <br />Abstaininge Sutton ( personal priviledge) <br />" the City Manager was authorized to notify the General Ser- <br />vices Administration that the City was interested in the 1.04 acres of <br />land which had been declared surplus by the Fish and Wild Life Service. <br />This land is to be disposed of in accordance with the Federal Property <br />Act of 1949.- <br />Miss Geraldine Gibson, who lives approximately ~ mile out of <br />the City Limits on the Old Hunter Road, had made application for a water <br />connection to the City water main. This was in conflict with existing <br />policy of connecting users out of the City. Alderman Younger suggested <br />that the Cfty Manager write Miss Gibson and tell her that the City was <br />working on a program whereby users could be connected outside the city <br />-and when the plan was approved and in effect, she would be notified. <br />This met with uhaminous consent of the Council. <br />~'~' <br />
