~~ <br />The Council received a letter from Kenheth and Lyndon Brown <br />expressing their appreciation for the naming of the entrance road into <br />the Brown School property after their father. <br />c~ <br />The ity Manager reported that he had sent the annual audit <br />`" for the yeai 161-62 to several investment bankers andtMoodyas Tnvest- <br />' meat Service and had' received much favorable comment of-the Ctya's. <br />financial condition. <br />The City Manager was authorized to proceed with an application , <br />to HHfA fora Commurrlty Improvement application under the open land <br />phase of PL 87-70. <br />Tne Ci'`ty Manager recomended moving the two water points (one <br />on loop 82 near Highway 81 and the other on the, County Aoad near the <br />Wallace Addition) to the Water Pumping Station. It had been necessary <br />to cut off the water at the xater points during the cold weather and <br />this had been an inconvenience to several of the rural persons who used <br />these points as a source of water (Hays, Caldwell, Comal, and Guadalupe <br />Counties). By moving the water point•to the pump station, a man is on <br />duty at all times-'and the peoplewould be able to get water at arty time <br />of the-day or night as well<as on Sundays and holidays. Aldeitnan Ruiz <br />suggested that this be tried but if too much intomrenience was caused, <br />the point on the Covnty Road (Wallace Addition) !Ye left in operation. <br />Mayor Allen read a report which had been requested by the <br />Council regarding all employees eligible for retirement under Social <br />- Security, TMRS or Firemen~s,Pension Fund. Alderman Korff suggested the <br />City Manager talk with each employee eligible for retiremerrt and report' <br />to the Council and that a plan be established whereby at'a definate age <br />otl length of service an empl,oye'e would be required Ito retire. <br />A letter from Mr. Coy DeVineyfoffering to 'sell the "Giletresse <br />Property" to the City was read. A letter from the Evening Liotnst Ck~ub ' <br />was read requesting the City to obtain this property for park purposes. <br />Alderman Korff made a a~otian sedonded by Aldesmaan Ruiz that the City <br />i tobtain a,six (6) months option on the property. Motion carried. <br />The Mayor asked if any further business needed to be transacted, <br />if not the meeting be adjourned in order that the City Manager could be <br />excused to make a speaking engagement.
