In the event the offender <br />wished to appear in court and plead not guilty, the case would be tried and the <br />judge was in no way bound by the suggested list, He could dismiss the case or <br />assess any fine or penalty prescribed by statute or by ordinance. Alderman <br />Ruiz made a motion that the list be apptoved as presented and for the purpose <br />intended, This motion was seconded by Alderman Korff and carried unaminously. <br /> <br />~ <br />::0 <br />C:~ <br />~ <br />= <br /> <br />~1&' <br /> <br />The matter of health cards being iJssued by the San Marcos-Hays County <br />Health Unit waS discussed, It was reported to the Council that the Hays County <br />Medical Association did not concur in the adoption of the ordinance as it had <br />been presented by the Health Department. The CitYoManager was direeted to con- <br />tact the Medical Association and obtain an acceptable ordinance. lhis would <br />be considered by the Council. If an ordinance was not presented within 30 I <br />days, the Council would proceed_with drafting one. <br /> <br />It was reported that Mr. Norman Jackson, Meat Inspector, had named <br />Mr. Fentress Thompson as relief meat inspector during Mr. Jackson's leave of <br />absence while participating as a candidate in the primary election for county <br />judge. The Mayor questioned Mr._Jackson's authority to name his relief and <br />the Council instructed the City Manager to find a suitable replacement, if <br />necessary going to Austin and getting a man from the Merit System list, <br /> <br />Mr,Tom Oliver requested the Council to reconsider the ruling of the <br />Building Inspector prohibiting the placing of two,light standards for holding <br />flood lights,to illuminate the facade of the new First Federal Savings & Loan <br />Building at the corner of Guadalupe and Hppkins street. He explained that no <br /> <br />sign or otherattachmentwould be suspended from them except the flood lights, <br />The First Federal was ready and willing to give bond indemnifying the City from <br />any damage or liability of whatsoever nature as a result of the light standards. <br />It was the pleasure of the COuncil that the matter be referred to the City <br />Attorney for a ruling. <br /> <br />The Mayor read a letter from Dr. Wm. L. Moore resigning as City <br />Health Officer. Alderman Sutton moved that the resignation be accepted with <br />regret and this motion was seconded by Aldetman'Ruiz.
