<br />REGULAR MEPTING_HELD_ON APRIL 10, 1962
<br />On the 10th day of April, 1962, at 2:00 o•clock in the after-
<br />noon, the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos met in regular session
<br />in the Gity Hall, Mayor Allen presiding.

<br />The first order of business was to`administer the oath of Office to
<br />Alderman Elect Garland Stokes by the Mayor. '
<br />The Minutes of the°last meeting were read and 'approved,
<br />Mayor Allen asked if there were any matters to be discussed.
<br />Mr. R. A, Tampke asked to be heard as a representative of a group of citizens
<br />from the Holland Street area. The group wanted to know what could be done
<br />in order to have Schulle Drive dedicated as a public street so that it could be
<br />paved. Mr, Fuller explained that there had been some difficulty in having this
<br />property dedicated as there were two property owners involved, who were not
<br />in accord in the matter.
<br />Alderman Younger made a motion that the City Attorney be instructed
<br />to~acquire for City street purposes, the property known as Schulle Drive.
<br />This property to~be a strip 50 feet wide and obtained at no cost to the City
<br />other than necessary expenses as 'deeds and filing `costs. Alderman Swift
<br />seconded and motion carried, The Mayor started that when the street had been
<br />secured it would he paved and sewer lines would be laid,
<br />Alderman Swift moved that the Council direct City Manager Fuller
<br />to make installation of the sewer lines in the College Court Area, as
<br />previously approved, number one priority in the City~s business and that actual
<br />construction work begin no later than April 30, 1962. Alderman Stokes
<br />seconded and motion carried.
<br />Street lights for the Holland Street area were also requested,
<br />Alderman Younger asked City Manager Fuller to contact L.C.R,A. and obtain
<br />installation dates per their schedule for this and other areas needing street
<br />lights, The group from Street expressed the need for additional street signs
<br />in the area. City Manager stated that the signs would be placed during the
<br />fiscal year as funds were made available.
<br />Alderman Swift made a motion that all future Council meetings be
<br />opened with a prayer and the Ministerial Alliance be asked to help in the
<br />matter of assigning a minister for the meeting. Alderman Younger seconded
<br />and the motion carried.
<br />Alderman Swift made a motion that the' United'States Flag and the
<br />Texas Flag be placed behind ttre Mayors chair at future Council meetings.
<br />Alderman Ruiz seconded and the motion carried. Alderman Swift said he
<br />would be responsible for contacting the Ministerial Alliance and also for
<br />obtaining the flags.
<br />Alderman Stokes presented a letter containing an opinion of City
<br />Attorney Albert M. Walker concerning the Mayors voting in Council matters,
