Tickle, Mrs. Jerri Veidt and <br />Wray Weddell, jr. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Allen. <br /> <br />The first item of business was the Ordinance regulating dogs, <br />deferred from the last meeting. Each member was given a copy of <br />the proposed Ordinance concerning the vaccination and registration <br />of dogs. <br /> <br />Alderman Swift presented a copy of the Dog Ordinance in force at <br />present in the City of Big Spring, Texas, and proposed that sections <br />of this Ordinance be used in place of cerrtain sections of the <br />proposed San Marcos Ordinance. He read the sections he proposed <br />placing in the San Marcos Ordinance and explained the sections he <br />would like to have deleted from the proposed Ordinance. Alderman <br />Swift made a motion that the Ordinance as amended be adopted. <br />The revised Ordinance was read in full and discussed. The Ordinance <br />is captioned as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND LICENSING THE KEEPING <br />OF DffiS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF SAN MARCOS; <br />PROVIDING FOR A LICENSE FEE; VACCINATION AGAINST <br />RABIES; ISSUANCE BY THE TAX-ASSESSOR-COLLECTOR OF A <br />LICENSE TAG AFTER VACCINATION; ISSUANCE OF DUPLICATE <br />FOR LOST TAGS; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL'TO KEEP AN UNLICENSED <br />Dffi; APPOINTING A POUND MASTER; REQUIRING MONTHLY REPORTS; <br />ESTABLISHING POUND FEES; PERMITTING REDEMPTION OF IMPOUNDED <br />DOGS; PRESCRIBING DISPOSITION OF UNCLAIMED DffiS; UNLAWFUL <br />TO REMOVE LICENSE TAG; RESTRAlrNING FEMALE DffiS DURING <br />OVULATION; PROHIBITING "DUMPING" DOGS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS; <br />REGULATING CONFINEMENT OF DffiS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS; <br />UNLAWFUL TO KEEP HCGS; REGULATION OF CATTLE, HORSES, FOWLS, ETC.; <br />PROVIDING A SAVING CLAUSE; MAKING VIOLATION A MTSDEMEANOR; <br />REPElU.ING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE OF ENFORCEMENT. <br /> <br />Alderman Stokes seconded the motion and on roll call the Council <br />voted as followsl <br /> <br />Ayes: Ruiz, Stokes and Swift <br />Nays: Younger <br /> <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the Ordinance passed, approved <br />a nd adopted. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alderman Ruiz asked that a copy of the Ordinance be sent to <br />the Humane Society. <br /> <br />Alderman Stokes made a motion that the Ordinance be implemented <br />to become effective August 1, 1962.
