~ 110 ADJOURNED REGULAR MEET ING June 26, 1962 Present: Mayor Aldermen C.M. Allen Ruben Ruiz H. Garland Stokes Lee Swift J.E. Younger B.R. Fuller George Reed I Ci ty Manager City Secretary Absent: Alderman Dr. William Moore Guests. Tom Buckner, Dr. A.J. Tickle, Mrs. Jerri Veidt and Wray Weddell, jr. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Allen. The first item of business was the Ordinance regulating dogs, deferred from the last meeting. Each member was given a copy of the proposed Ordinance concerning the vaccination and registration of dogs. Alderman Swift presented a copy of the Dog Ordinance in force at present in the City of Big Spring, Texas, and proposed that sections of this Ordinance be used in place of cerrtain sections of the proposed San Marcos Ordinance. He read the sections he proposed placing in the San Marcos Ordinance and explained the sections he would like to have deleted from the proposed Ordinance. Alderman Swift made a motion that the Ordinance as amended be adopted. The revised Ordinance was read in full and discussed. The Ordinance is captioned as follows: I AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND LICENSING THE KEEPING OF DffiS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF SAN MARCOS; PROVIDING FOR A LICENSE FEE; VACCINATION AGAINST RABIES; ISSUANCE BY THE TAX-ASSESSOR-COLLECTOR OF A LICENSE TAG AFTER VACCINATION; ISSUANCE OF DUPLICATE FOR LOST TAGS; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL'TO KEEP AN UNLICENSED Dffi; APPOINTING A POUND MASTER; REQUIRING MONTHLY REPORTS; ESTABLISHING POUND FEES; PERMITTING REDEMPTION OF IMPOUNDED DOGS; PRESCRIBING DISPOSITION OF UNCLAIMED DffiS; UNLAWFUL TO REMOVE LICENSE TAG; RESTRAlrNING FEMALE DffiS DURING OVULATION; PROHIBITING "DUMPING" DOGS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS; REGULATING CONFINEMENT OF DffiS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS; UNLAWFUL TO KEEP HCGS; REGULATION OF CATTLE, HORSES, FOWLS, ETC.; PROVIDING A SAVING CLAUSE; MAKING VIOLATION A MTSDEMEANOR; REPElU.ING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF ENFORCEMENT. Alderman Stokes seconded the motion and on roll call the Council voted as followsl Ayes: Ruiz, Stokes and Swift Nays: Younger Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the Ordinance passed, approved a nd adopted. I Alderman Ruiz asked that a copy of the Ordinance be sent to the Humane Society. Alderman Stokes made a motion that the Ordinance be implemented to become effective August 1, 1962.
