<br />"..-~ <br />\ 1 \ <br /> <br />p. 2, June 26 adjourned regular meeting <br /> <br />The Council considered an Ordinance to issue temporary <br />current expense warrants to provide necessary funds to carry <br />out improvement schedule without waiting for tax income. <br />After some discussion, Alderman Stokes moved that the Ordinance <br />be approved with a limit of $50,000 for General Fund Current <br />Expense Warrants, 1962-1963. The Ordinance was read in full <br />and discussed. The Ordinance is captioned as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR BORROWING MONEY AND <br />ISSUING CITY OF SAN MARCOS GENERAL FUNDC:CURRHNT <br />EXPENSE WARRANTS TO THE AMOUNT OF $50,000 FOR <br />THE PURPOSE OF PAYING CURRENT OPERATING EXPENSES <br />DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, 1962-63; PROVIDING FOR <br />THE PAYMENT OF THE PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST OF <br />SAID WARRANTS. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alderman Younger seconded the motion and it carried. Roll call <br />of the vote was as follows: <br /> <br />Ayes: RUiz, Stokes and Younger <br />Nays: None <br />Abstained, Swift <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance passed, approved and adopted. <br /> <br />The City Manager explained that a Resolution was needed to request <br />Federal Assistance under the Open Space Program to purchase the <br />Gilcrease land. Alderman Ruiz made a motion that the Resolution <br />be adopted. Alderman Stokes seconded the motion and it carried. <br />Roll call of the Council vote was as follows: <br /> <br />Ayes: Ruiz, Stokes, Swift and Younger <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />The request of Sociedad Cuauhtemoc for permission to hold dances <br />at their park on Sundays was brought to the attention of the <br />Council. Alderman Younger made a motion that Sociedad Cuauhtemoc <br />be allowed to hold dances on Sundays during the Summer of 1962, <br />through September 16 holiday, provided no disturbances occur. He <br />stipulated that the permit be granted for one season only, and that <br />the society reapply next Summer, if it so desires. Alderman Stokes <br />seconded the motion and it carried. The roll call of the Council <br />vote was as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Ayes: Ruiz, Stokes, Swift and Younger <br />Nays, None <br /> <br />City Secretary George Reed was requested to absent himself from <br />the Council Room. Alderman Younger explained that Mr. Reed had <br />been working several hours overtime at night with the Board of <br />Equalization and suggested that consideration be given that <br />Mr. Reed receive additional compensation for this work. It was <br />the unanimous decision of the remainder of the members of the <br />Council that this was against established policy to pay department <br />heads overtime.
