This
easement had'been obtained by the privately owned water distributing system
in 1883 and has been of no use or value to the City for many years. On
August 31, 1961 the Council had abandoned and releaseq the easement across
Lots 1 & 2, Block 3, Enoch Moore Addition. Lot 3 had been purchased by the
College and the easement created a cloud on the title to the Property. In
view of the fact that the City had no use for this easement , either now nor
in the foreseeable future, Alderman Younger introduced an Ordinance for the
consideration of the Council, and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded
by Alderman Stokes. Caption of the Ordinance, which was read in full, is as
follows:

AN ORDINANCE RELEASING A CERTAIN WATER LINE EASEMl:NT, AND ALL
OTHER RIGHTS; TITLE AND INTEREST OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCes,
IN AND TO LOT NO. On motion of Alderman Swift and second of
Alderman Stokes, the Council voted unanimously to table the report for
further study.

The Council approved MP. Fuller's acceptance of an appointment to the
Fiscal Committee of the National Association for Housing and Redevelopment
Officials.

Mr. Fuller informed the Council of the 1962 Conference on Traffic Courts
to be held at the University of Texas School of Law, July 19-20, and expressed
the hope that the Court Recorder, Mr. E.O. Wiley, would be able to attend.
Mayor Allen suggested that the City pay the expemses incurred in attending
the school, and the Council unanimously approved the expenditure.

The City Manager asked that he be authorized to trade the 1956 Ford formerly I
used by the Police Department for a 4-door sedan equipped with a 2-way radio;
and to trade the 1947 Dodge truck for a It ton cab and chassis for use by the
Garbage Department. The last unit would be paid for from receipts of the
monthly garbage pick-up at Camp Gary. A discussion of City equipment ensued.
Alderman Stokes moved that Mr. Fuller be authorized to trade in the vehicles
on purchase of a sedan and truck.
