<br />rJ" <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />adjourned regular meeting march 19 page two <br /> <br />Alderman Swift introduced an ordinance and moved its adoption. <br />Caption of the ordinance, which is attached hereto as a part of <br />the Minutes, is as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJOINING <br />THE CITV OF SAN MAImS 000 SAID CITV OF SAN MAOCOS <br /> <br />The Ordinance was read in full. Alderman Ruiz seconded the motion <br />for adoption, and, on roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AVE: Moore, Ruiz, Stokes, Swift <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Whereupon, the Mayor Pro-Tern declared the Ordinance Paased, Approved <br />and Adopted. <br /> <br />The City Manager had provided members of the Council with copies of <br />a letter from the Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army Engineer District, <br />Fort Worth, regarding Canyon Reservoir Park. The Council, by mutual <br />consent, requested the City Manager to answer the letter, assuring <br />the Corps of Engineers of their continued interest in the project. <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the Council that the Planning Commission <br />had requested the Art Department of the Southwest Texas state College <br />to deSign a suitable City seal for consideration of the Council. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission recommended an Amendment to the Building Code. <br />Alderman stokes introduced an Ordinance and moved its adoption. <br />Caption of the Ordinance, which is attached hereto as a part of the <br />Minutes. is as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARfICLE VIII OF THE BUILDING CODE <br />OF THE CITV OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS (SAME BEING THE NAIIONAL <br />BUILDING CODE OF 1949 AS AMENDED) AOOPI'ED BY THE CITY OF <br />SAN MAImS, TEXAS, ON JANUARY 12, 1955; ADDING A NEW <br />SECTION TO SECT ION 802.2 ROOF COVERING REQUIRED <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Ordinance was read in full. Alderman Ruiz seconded the motion <br />for adoption and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AVE, Moore, Ruilo, Stokes, SHift <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />Whereupon, the Mayor Pro-Tern declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved <br />and Adopted. <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the Council that the Planning Commission <br />had recommended that the City Council grant an easement to Southwest <br />Texas State College to run water lines in the public, right-of-way. <br />The COllege's request was presented and Alderman SWift moved that <br />the City Manager be directed to prepare a formal easement for execut- <br />ion by the City. Alderman Moore seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported to the Council that the Planning Commission <br />had appointed a committee to work with members of the heating and <br />air-conditioning trades in the preparation of ordinances for submission <br />to the Planning Commission and recommendation to the Council. <br /> <br />The City Manager requested that members of the Council be available I <br />at h15 p.m., March 22 for a television shot for "The San Marcos <br />Stpry" program being prepared by KTBC TV, Austin. <br /> <br />Mr. Younger reported he had been contacted by Jack Williams of the <br />Cemetery Association in regard to the $1000 gift promised some <br />months ago for cemetery beautification. Mr. Williams stated members <br />of the Association would like to have some part in planning the gate <br />and entrance landscaping. The Mayor Pro-Tern said it had been his <br />understanding that the $1000 had been offered for the fence. and he <br />suggested that the Secretary check the Minutes, and. if that were the <br />case, to bill the Cemetery Association. The City Manager suggested <br />the Secretary go back to the original agreement between the City and <br />the Cemetery Association, since he had been under the impression that <br /> <br />l ""C' ~7 <br />~~ 'i <br />
