<br />1\ <br /> <br />, I <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />.., l <br />/) <br /> <br />~, <br /> <br />r <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULAtING tHE SPEED OF TRAFFIC <br />UPON PORTIONS OF U.S. AND STATE HIGHWAYS <br />LYING WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF <br />CERTAIN MAXIMUM SPEEDS FOR PARTICULAR SECTIONS <br />OF SAID HIGHWAYS; ENUMERATING THE HIGHWAYS <br />AND SECTIONS THEREOF WITH THE MAXIMUM SPEEDS; <br />t:~IXING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PRO- <br />VISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS <br />CLAUSE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOF <br />IN CONFLICT HEREWITH~ AND ESTABLISHING AN <br />EFFECTNE DATE. <br /> <br />--.-9 <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CrIT OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TExAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1 This Ordinance is and shall be deemed an exercise <br />of the police power of the State of Texas, and of the City of San Marcos, <br />for the public safety, comfort, convenience and protection of the City <br />and citizens of said City, and all of the provisions herein shall be <br />construed for accomplishment of that purpose. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 It shall be hereafter unlawful for any person in <br />charge or control of or operating any vehicle to propel or run or drive or <br />operate such vehicle on or upon certain sections of highways within the <br />corporate limits of the City of San Marcos, atagreater rate of speed than <br />is hereinafter set forth in connection with such sections of said highways: <br /> <br />1. Interstate Highway 35 (U .S. Highway 8~) <br /> <br />a. For South Bound Traffic <br />From Station 739+00 (a point 78.5' south of the <br />north city limits) to Station 782+00, a distance <br />of .814 mile --- a maximum speed of 55 miles per hour. <br /> <br />From Station 782+00 to Station 880+00 a distance <br />of 1.990 miles --- a maximum speed of 40 miles <br />per hour. <br /> <br />From Station 880+00 to Station 915+00 a distance <br />of .663 mile --- a maximum speed of 45 miles per <br />hour. <br /> <br />From Station 915+00 to Station 950+00 a distance of <br />.663 mile --- a maximum speed of 35 miles per hour. <br /> <br />From Station 950+00 to Station 985+00 a distance <br />of .663 mile --- a maximum speed of 45 mile per <br />hour. <br /> <br />From Station 985+00 to Station 1004+00 a distance <br />of .360 mile --- a maximum speed of 40 miles per <br />hour. <br /> <br />, I <br />I <br /> <br />From Station 1004+00 to Station 1043+32 (a point in <br />the South City Limits of San Marcos) a distance of <br />.745 mile --- a maximum speed of 50 miles per hour. <br /> <br />b.
