<br />(7l <br /> <br />A PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS the United Nations symbolizes man's eternal quest for <br />enduring peace with justice, and provides us with our most <br />promising means for achieving that high purpose; and <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS the United Nations has, on numerous occasions during its <br />brief life, clearly and forcefully demonstrated its value as a <br />vital diplomatic forum in times of international crises; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the United Nations, through its participation in programs <br />for social and economic development, has provided significant <br />material assistance and leadership throughout the world in efforts <br />to raise standards of life; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the United Nations actively sponsors and advances the <br />cause of human rights; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the United Nations serves the interests of this Nation <br />by promoting humanitarian principles which we share; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS citizens of the United States should recognize the aims <br />and accomplishments of the United Nations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the General Assembly of the United Nations has resolved <br />that October twenty-fourth, the anniversary of the coming into <br />force of the United Nations Charter, should be dedicated each <br />year to making known the purposes, principles, and accomplishments <br />of the United Nations: <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, FRANK TAYLOR, Mayor of the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas, do hereby urge the citizens of San Marcos to observe <br />Thursday, October 24, 1963, as United Nations Day by means of <br />community programs which will demonstrate their faith in the <br />United Nations and contribute to a better understanding of its <br />aims, problems, and accomplishments. <br /> <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the <br />Seal of the City of San Marcos to be affixed this 14th day of <br />October, A.D., 1963. <br /> <br />Frank Taylor <br />Mayor, City of San Marcos <br /> <br />ATT EST : <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />co- &J <br />~> 'I .I -, I" I . <br />,9Jbo\tty<' ), ~(J~ <br /> <br />Dorothy o.
