Inasmuch as the bids were
the same, Mr. Fuller recommended that Thompson-Hayward Chemical
Company be awarded the bid on the basis of satisfactory service
during 1962-1963. Alderman Stokes moved that Thompson-Hayward
Chemical Company be awarded the 1963-1964 chlorine bid. Alderman
Pool seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

i/

The City Manager reported that the Truckster to be used for parking
meter collection had been received and put into use. Alderman Ruiz
requested a comparative report on meter receipts (before and after
the Truckster), at the end of the year.

Alderman Stokes moved that all police cars be boldly marked
"City Police Department" and equipped with red dome lights.
Alderman Ruiz seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

I

The City Manager presented for Council consideration and approval
a City map marked with a tentative outline of a suggested Gelif!raL
Neighborhood Renewal Program. The area extends along the west
bank of the San Marcos River, being bounded on the west by Mitchell
Street and the west City Limits; on the north by Colorado Street and
San Antonio Street; and on the south by I 35. After discussion as to
the merits of the outlined area, and with minor changes, the Council
unanimously approved the planned area and directed the City Manager
to proceed with the submission of an application to Housing and Home
Finance Agency for a survey and planning grant. A map showing the
area approved is attached hereto and made a part of the Minutes. It
was explained to the Council that within GNRP, specific projects would
later be delineated and developed, along the lines used in the
Chautauqua Hill Project.

The meeting adjourned at 10 p.m.

Frank Taylor
Mayor

)Vv-- ^Y'N'~I. \vi .D ---
Wm.
