The City Manager explained the necessity of adequate pre-planning
to provide for relocation of families displaced by the progress of
the City Development Program. Under the Cooperative Agreement between
the Housing Authority of the City of San Marcos and the Public Housing
Administration, the City is entitled to additional units of pUblic housing.
The City Manager suggested that single family, or duplex units would
alleviate the need for housing for the elderly and low income families.
Alderman Stokes moved that the City Manager be authorized to negotiate
with PHA for authorization of 100 units in San Marcos, such units to be
coordinated with requirements of people to be relocated through GNRP,
particularly, elderly people; and that the City Manager specifically
plan that these units be single-family or duplex, and not. multi-family.
Alderman Pool seconded the motion. There was thorough discussion on
the matter, in relation to coordinating the housing units with GNRP.
San Marcos River at the east end of Hopkins Street, bids to be asked for
on bridge at no later time than 30 days following approval of GNRP; that
