I AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SUBSECTION 8 a and SUBSECTION 8 b OF SECTION 2 of AN ORDINANCE ADOPTED ON THE 20th DAY OF AUGUST, A. D., 1963, ENTITLED n AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC UPON PORTIONS OF U.S. AND STATE HIGHWAYS LYING WITHIN THE .CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SAN :MARCOS THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CERTAIN MAXIMUM SPEEDS FOR PARTICULAR SECTIONS OF SAID HIGHWAYS; ENUMERATING THE HIGHWAYS AND SECTIONS THEREOF WITH THE MAXIMUM SPEED; FIXING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. "; AND, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR THE AMENDMENT. WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos. Texas, that it is in the best interest of the City of San Marcos to reduce the present maximum permissive speeds on certain sections of State Highway 123 as they are presently fixed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos, Texas: SECTION I Subsection 8. a. of Section 2 of the above captioned ordinance adopted the 20th day of August, A. D., 1963, is amended to read as follows: "8 ~ State Highway 123 I a. For South Bound Traffic From Station 7+00 (East curb line of the East Frontage Road oLIH 35), to Station 9+00, a distance of .087 miles,. a maximum speed of 35 miles per hour. From Station 9+00 to Station 15+50, a distance of .123 miles, a maximum speed of 40 miles per hour. From Station 15+50 to Station 60+66 (San Marcos South City Limits), a distance of .855 miles, a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour. II SECTION II Subsection 8.b. of .Section 2 of the above captioned ordinance is amended to read as follows: I nb. For North Bound Traffic From Station 60+66 (San Marcos South City Limit) to Station 15+50, a distance of .855 miles, a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour. From Station 15+50 to Station 9+00, a distance of .123 miles, a maximum speed of 40 miles per hour. From Station 9+00 to Station 7+00, (East curb line of East Frontage Road of ill 35), a distance of .087 miles, a maximum speed of 35 miles per hour. II SECTION III. All ordinances, resolutions, or parts thereof in conflict with this ordinance are repealed only so far as they conflict with this ordinance. SECTION IV. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect on and after its legal publication as provided by law or the 15th day of November, 1963, whichever shall occur last, and shall remain in effect until reSCinded by the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos; == == ;>-< ~ ;'\f sz
