<br />adjourned regular meeting, october 28, 1963 page three <br /> <br />(c? <br /> <br />Item 6 of "City Manager Items", a change of fees for use of the <br />Recreation Hall in Memorial Park, was opened for discussion. <br />Alderman Ruiz moved that the City Manager's recommendations be <br />followed, with the exception of the minimum charge for 2~ hours, <br />which he stipulated should remain at $0.00. Alderman Stokes <br />seconded the motion, and on roll call, the following vote was <br />recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: Moore, Pool, Ruiz, Stokes <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />Whereupon, the Mayor declared the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Item 7 of "City Manager Items" referred to a recommendation on <br />South Austin Street parking, from the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Alderman Ruiz moved that parking be allowed on the west side of <br />Austin Street between Lee and Love; and on the east Side, between <br />Love and Willow Creek. Alderman Pool seconded the motion, which <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Alderman Ruiz called attention to the fact that Field Furniture <br />Company employees have a practice of assembling furniture on the <br />sidewalk, thus blocking pedestrian traffic. Alderman Moore mentioned <br />that Hoffman had pipe strung on Cheatham Street between Austin and <br />Guadalupe, creating a traffic hazard. The City Manager was requested <br />to instruct Chief Dial to call these infractions to the attention of <br />the proper persons. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager stated he had received several telephone calls <br />relative to speeding in the vicinity of San Marcos Academy, with <br />requests for a traffic light. After discussion of the most advan- <br />tageous place for a traffic light, the City Manager suggested a <br />a light at James and Academy, as the most logical place to slow traffic. <br />Alderman Ruiz moved that the City Manager be authorized to place a <br />traffic light at James and Academy. Alderman Stokes seconded the motion <br />and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Moore, Pool, Ruiz, Stokes <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />Whereupon, the Mayor declared the motion passed. <br /> <br />The City Manager called attention to the fact that the next regular <br />meeting of the Council would fall on Monday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, <br />which is an approved City hOliday.
