Alderman Pool seconded the <br />motion, and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE; Moore, Pool, Ruiz, Stokes <br />NAY; None <br /> <br />Whereupon, the Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The Mayor requested the City Attorney to give the matter of the <br />grievance hearing his utmost consideration, to ee prepared to make <br />a recommendation to the Council. The City Attorney left the meeting <br />at the conclusion mf discussion on the White hearing. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor informed the Council th-at Camp Gary was in the pre-disposal <br />stage, and that all air-conditioning, sprinklers, and other equip- <br />ment had been tagged "Ft. Sam Houston" by a colonel and several <br />sergeants. He said he had requested the City Manager to investigate <br />the proper procedure to get the equipment "frozen" in order to give <br />the City of San Marcos time to appeal to the government. The Mayor <br />pointed out that Camp Gary, stripped of all usable equipment, would <br />be of little value to a possible purchaser or leasee. A thorough <br />discussion ensued on the best methods to employ to stop the removal <br />of the equipment to Ft. Sam Houston. Alderman Stokes suggested that <br />a Citizens Committee, headed by the Mayot, be named to deal with the <br />matter in the most expeditious manner. Names of various civic leaders <br />were suggested by Council Members, Alderman Stokes moved that a <br />Citizens Committee for Camp Gary be given authority to act "for the <br />City in all areas but the expenditure of funds, in an effort to stop <br />the removal of the equipment from Camp Gary, the commttee to be com- <br />posed of the following persons; <br />Mayor Frank Taylor, chairman, J,R. Thornton, William Crook, <br />Gen. Halley Maddox, Jack Clark, Jack Creel, H.Y.
