spec i a I meet i ng, december 17, 1963, page two

Lockhart; County Commissioner Mrs. Roland Meadows,
Lockhart; Mayor Sam Glosserman, Lockhart; Mayor J.B.
Nickels, Luling; Mayor Peter Dressen, Kyle; and
Mayor Bruce Ferguson, Buda. A Steering Committee
fromthe group was named, with Mayor Frank Taylor as
chairman. Others suggested were: Garland Stokes,
J.R. Thornton, R.J. Pollard, Bi Ily Creel and H.Y.
Price, jr. The Steering Committee as suggested was
unanimously approved by the group. on motion of Jack
Clark, and second of Alderman Moore.

I

The City Manager explained the next steps to be taken.
He stated Fourth Army was still in charge of Camp Gary;
that the date for the installation to be turned over to
General Services Administration was Dec. I, 1964.

On suggestion of Alderman Stokes, and by common consent,
it was decided that the Press would be invited to sit in
on meetings of the Citizens Committee for Camp Gary, but
that information would be given to the public only through
press releases by the Committee. It was emphasized that
negotiations must be DdiscreetU and kept within the
Committee, because other cities would be attempting to
find uses for decativated bases in their areas. The press
would be present on an "off the record" basis.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 p.m.

c}:::.~.~

Mayor

I

Wm. A.
