<br />d <br /> <br />';;;: <br />g- ;') ~.-' <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during the tenure of John Garland Flowers as its <br /> <br />president, Southwest Texas State College has been transformed <br /> <br />from a small teacher preparation institution to a nationally <br /> <br />known and recognized college with strong academic and graduate <br /> <br />programs; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, due to his ability as an administrator, as well as his <br /> <br />position as a respected scholar, these ever-expanding academic <br /> <br />programs required an increasing physical plant with classrooms, <br /> <br />libraries, laboratories and other facilities which have added <br /> <br />to the culture and beauty of the City of San Marcos, as well as <br /> <br />the College; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the expanding knowledge and growing complexity of our <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />society require brilliant, dedicated and selfless leadership like <br /> <br />that of John Garland Flowers. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, THAT <br /> <br />J 0 H N GAR LAN D F LOW E R S <br /> <br />be recognized and commended for his impressive contribution to <br /> <br />education. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this 3rd day of March, A.D., 1964. <br /> <br />J ..~/ <br />~ -/t4~ ~~~ <br /> <br />Frank Taylor Y <br />Mayor <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />r~: .~ <br />("Ad~70 U.L~/ ..
