regular meeting, march 9, 1964, page four It}i The City Manager informed the Council that a request had been received for the Council to approve a private contractor for collection of all the garbage in the doWntown area. The contractor would pay the City a fixed sum fOr the franchise, or a percentage of the gross~as a franchise tax. MrJ Fuller. recommended that the details' of the proposition be worked out for presentation to the' Council at a later date. The Council agreed by common consent to approve the City Manager's recommendation that the garbage collection contract be considered at a later meeting, The City Manager said he had received a request for an ordinance prohibit- ing parking on the west side of Academy Street, north from Lindsey to the I traffic light. It was agreed that the parking situation on Academy Street should be studied, and an ordinance prepared for future consideration. A plat subdiving 13.71 acres northeast of Greendale, with an extension of Barbara Drive, was presented to the Council for approval. The City Manager said the Planning and Zoning Commission had approved it, subject to the Council's approval. The plat was studied and discussed. Alderman Stokes moved that the Council approve the plat, subject to a change in the cuI de sac. Alderman Moore seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
