<br />regular meeting, march 9, 1964, page four <br /> <br />It}i <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the Council that a request had been received <br />for the Council to approve a private contractor for collection of all <br />the garbage in the doWntown area. The contractor would pay the City a <br />fixed sum fOr the franchise, or a percentage of the gross~as a franchise <br />tax. MrJ Fuller. recommended that the details' of the proposition be worked out <br />for presentation to the' Council at a later date. The Council agreed by <br />common consent to approve the City Manager's recommendation that the <br />garbage collection contract be considered at a later meeting, <br /> <br />The City Manager said he had received a request for an ordinance prohibit- <br />ing parking on the west side of Academy Street, north from Lindsey to the I <br />traffic light. It was agreed that the parking situation on Academy Street <br />should be studied, and an ordinance prepared for future consideration. <br /> <br />A plat subdiving 13.71 acres northeast of Greendale, with an extension of <br />Barbara Drive, was presented to the Council for approval. The City Manager <br />said the Planning and Zoning Commission had approved it, subject to the <br />Council's approval. The plat was studied and discussed. Alderman Stokes <br />moved that the Council approve the plat, subject to a change in the cuI <br />de sac.
