<br />4-'d- <br /> <br />adjourned regular meeting, may 18, 1964, page two <br /> <br />The City Manager provided Councilmen with a map of the property which <br />the First American Lutheran Church is interested in buying from the City. <br />The matter was thoroughly discussed. Alderman Pool moved that the <br />City Manager's recommendation. be accepted, and an offer be made to the <br />First American Lutheran Church to lease the land on a year-to-year basis, <br />with a 3D-day termination clause. On Alderman Serur's second the motion! <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />In response to the Council's request at the May 11 meeting, the City <br />Manager presented a written report on the City's park areas, the back~ <br />ground of acquisition, and the present plans for development (see Item # 4, <br />City Manager Items for May 18, 1964). <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Copies of a letter and news release from the Federal Aviation Agency, <br />District Office, Ft. Worth, were furnished members of the Council. <br />The City Manager explained to Councilmen the possible use of Camp Gary <br />as a site for a mmnicipal airport for San Marcos. By common consent, <br />the Council authorized Mr. Fuller to discuss the possibilities of an <br />FAA program with F.J. Schnitzer, District Airport Engineer. <br /> <br />The matter of traffic control at the intersection of James and Academy <br />streets was introduced.. Alderman Pool called to the Attention of the <br />Council a traffic hazard at Lindsey and North, and recommended that it <br />be made a four-Way stop in the interest of safety. <br /> <br />Don Uzzell was recognized by the Mayor. He brought the State Highway <br />Department's publication, "Texas Manual on Unifrm Traffic Control <br />Devices for Streets and Highways" to the Council table, and offered to <br />make the City a gift of the book. The City Manager said he had the <br />information contained in the ~anual, in his office. AldermanRuiz said <br />that, inasmuch as Mr. Fuller already had the information in his office, <br />he would recommend that the Manual be returned to Mr. Uzzell. Alderman <br />Tuttle said that problems under discussion would be s~~diedctiy the <br />Traffic Committee when appointed. Alderman Pool mentioned that the <br />intersection of Guadalupe and Matthews was also a dangerous cOrner. <br />Alderman Serur asked that all the cross streets on Monterrey be made stop I <br />streets, with Monterrey as a through street.
