<br />Minutes of the May 11, May 18 and May 25, 1964 meetings were unanimously
<br />approved as presented, on motion of Alderman Tuttle and second of Alderman
<br />Whittenberg. ' -

<br />The Mayor welcomed DickONen, new Manager of the Chamber of Commerce, as a
<br />visitor to the meeting. "
<br />
<br />'J.C. Hartley appeared before the Council to propose that the City purchase
<br />the mausoleum which he owns. The Mayor read aloud a letter previously sent
<br />to members of the Council, outlining the terms of the acquisition proposal.
<br />The matter was discussed with Mr. Hartley. Alderman Ruiz moved that the
<br />matter be tabled until the next meeting, to give Councilmen an opportunity
<br />to further study the proposal. Alderman Pool seconded the motion, which
<br />-passed unanimously.

<br />The Mayor introduced an ordinance for consideration of the Council.

<br />AN ORDINANCE CREATING A TRAFFIC GOOl!SSION; PRESCRIBING METl-IOD
<br />OF APPOOOMENT; PROVIDING FOR TERM OF OFlIGE; METHOD OF FTI.LING
<br />VACANCIES; DE&;RIBING DUTIES; NO DEBT MAY BE INCURRED BY SAID
<br />CC\\1MISSION; AND, FIXING AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE

<br />Alderman Pool moved the adoption of the Ordinance. Alderman Whittenberg
<br />seconded the motion, and on roll call, the following vote was recorded I
<br />

<br />Whereupon, the Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted.
<br />
<br />The Mayor proposed the fOllowing seven names fOr consideration of the
<br />Council as appointees to the newly created Traffic Commissionl
<br />Marvin Altenhoff, Clovis Barker, Willis Callihan, John Ferguson,
<br />Robert C. Haney, Domingo "Toby" Tobias and Buford Williams.
<br />Alderman Whittenberg moved the approval of the seven men recommended by
<br />the Mayor. Alderman Tuttle seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
