Ford <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Council considered a Petition for Annexation from J.L. Moore, <br />M.W. Parker, Merle Parker and W.H. Tiner. Councilmen examined the <br />attached plat of the property. Alderman Whittenberg moved that the Council <br />officially receive the Petition for Annexation signed by Mr. and MrS. Parker, <br />Mr. Moore and Mr. Tiner. Stipulated in the motion was the condition that the <br />sewer line would be extended a maximum of 60 feet, or to the property line, <br />whichever should be the shOrter distance; and that the water line would be <br />extended to the property line. Alderman Pool seconded the motion and on roll <br />call, the following vote was recorded; <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE; Pool, Ruiz, Serur, Tuttle, Whittenberg <br />NAY; None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried, and the Petition officially received. <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter addressed to the Council and delivered through <br />Alderman Serur. Signed "Rev and Mrs. L.R. Mitchell", the letter was a <br />complaint that the City had failed in its promise to furnish sewer service <br />to their property at 1200 Alamo street. The Mayor requested the City secre- <br />tary to answer the letter, referring to the June 13 meeting when the public <br />was invited to the Council Meeting to hear a discussion of the five-year plan <br />for extension of sewer lines. <br /> <br />The Mayor stated he felt the Council should authorize the City Manager to <br />make a study of the unissued City bonds, with a full discussion on the <br />agenda for July 13. He said he understood there were highway bonds in the <br />amount of $ll6,000, and fire station bonds in escrow amounting to $50,000, <br />a total of $l66,000. Alderman Serur said he felt the City should go ahead <br />and use the bonds and extend sewer lines. The City Manager said it would <br />take a very careful analysis to determine the wisest course in the matter <br />of selling City bonds. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager presented a written report on his trip to Princeton, N.J., <br />June 26-27 to meet with the Board of Trustees of the Wally Byam Caravan <br />Clubs, Inc. regarding Selection of San Marcos as a permanent site for the <br />international headquarters. Mr. Fuller discussed the report with the <br />Council, and answered questions about the project. <br /> <br />Alderman Serur introduced for discussion the possibility of adopting a <br />system of "courtesy parking tickets" fol!' visitors to San Marcos who are <br />found to be in violation of the parking ordinance. There was general <br />agreement that San Marcos should adopt some type of "Courtesy parking" fOr <br />visitors. The Mayor appointed Aldermen Pool, Serur and Tuttle to study <br />the matter and report back to the Council on July l3.
