Eugene Jennings, rector of St. ~arkNs Episcopal Church, <br />gave the Invocation. <br /> <br />In the absence of iheCity Secretary, the City Manager was <br />requested to record matters brought before the Counci I. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the meetings of July 13, July 27 and Aug. 5,1964 <br />were unanimously approved as presented, ?n mo~i?n of Alderman <br />Whittenberg and second of Alderman Serur. <br /> <br />Mayor Taylor welcomed a delega~ion from the Board of Trustees <br />of the San Marcos Independent School Dis~rict. Dr.Martin, <br />President of the Board, acted as spokesman. He asked the <br />cooperation of the City in providing sewer service to the <br />site of the new school in Oak Heights. Several members of <br />the School Board spoke on the matter, including Mrs. Primer, <br />Mr. Mendez and Mr. Chambliss. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor outlined a plan for extending the sewer line which <br />he said the Council was fair to both governing bodies: <br />cost of labor and materials would be shared on a 50/50 basis; <br />the School System would bear the cost of pipe, with the pro- <br />vis ion. that; f the City dec i ded a I arger line was needed to <br />serve both the school and the area, the City would pay the <br />cost of the Nextra~ size pipe; the City would furnish all <br />equipment necessary, with the School sharing SO/50 in the <br />cost of labor, gasoline and other expenses required to install <br />the line. The Mayor stated that for streets needed, if the <br />School would furnish the base, material for surfacing and <br />concrete, the City would furnish the equipment for installing <br />the base, laying the surface and curb; and the City and the <br />Schoo I woul d aga i n di v i de the I abor and other cost on a 50/50 <br />basis.
