Uzzell, Dan Uzzell, <br />Don Uzze II, Bruce' Sm it'h>;: and others <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. He welcomed <br />five members of the Board of Trustees of the San Marcos Inde- <br />pendent School District, who had requested a Joint session with <br />the Counc i I . <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dr. M.M. Martin, President of the Board, stated that some <br />Trustees, and many people living in rural areas, had expressed <br />dissatisfaction with the terms of the City's offer to furnish <br />sewer facilities to the site of the proposed new school. He <br />referred to the City M!f:'ager's letter of September 9, 1964, with <br />the City's firm offer; not to exceed $11,382.76, which repre- <br />sents approximately 50% of the cost of. extending the sewer line <br />to the site. Dr. Martin handed the Mayor an excerpt from the <br />School Board Minutes of Sept. 9, 1964, and asked him to read it <br />aloud. It follows: <br /> <br />"The motion as amended and passed reads as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />H' It was moved by Celestino Mendez, Jr. and seconded <br />by Ann Primer to accept the Stokes site to build on and <br />further accept the firm figure of the City, through its <br />City Manager, on the cost of utilities as proposed in <br />his letter of September 9, 1964, providing the San Marcos <br />Independent School District be reimbursed for their costs <br />of said utilities at said time as revenues are received <br />and not to exceed a certain date, or the City furnish the <br />utility lines to San Marcos Independent School District <br />Stokes site property line. ", <br /> <br />Dr. Martin said the School Board had spent some $7,000 on <br />maps, and, in a spirit of cooperation, they would share them <br />with the City. <br /> <br />.- <br />..... <br />I ::~ <br />~c_, <br /> <br />Board Members Bob Cooper, Roscoe Chambliss and Celestino Mendez <br />apoke to the question and urged the City to stand the enti~e <br />cost of the line, or agree to reimburse the School on a long- <br />range plan based on probable income f~om customers. The Mayor <br />pointed out that the line would be extended outside the City <br />Limits and that additional income from that sou~ce could not <br />be expected in the near future.
