r,}\O

special meeting, sept. 2.3, 1964, page two

within the City Limits, which means the City would receive
no tax benefit from those families. Mr. Taylor reminded
Trustees that there were critical areas within the City
Limits to which the Council was morally obligated to furn-
ish sewer on the policy of extending sewer lines to areas
that would serve the most people per $1 spent. The matter
was discussed for over an hour. Alderman Whittenberg ob-
served that the School Board had chosen the site because
the land was donated to them; that it was the most expens-
ive site for sewer extension of those considered; that the
Board's request for the City to stand the full expense of
the sewer line amounted to the City's paying fo~the land.
He said he felt the City's SO/50 offer had been fair.
Alderman Whittenberg moved that the City extend again the
offer made on August 10, 1964 when the Schoo I Board met with
the Council, without the amendment. Alderman Tuttle second-
ed the motion, and on roll cal" ~he following vote was re-
corded;

I

AYE;
NAY;

Pool, Ruiz, Serur, Tuttle, Whittenberg
None

The Mayor declared the motion carried.

The Mayor introduced an ordinance annexing property on
North Austin Street which had been petitioned for annex-
at i on by Mrs. Cora L. Beckmann on Sept. 18, 1964.
Alderman Pool moved adoption of the Ordinance. Alderman
Serur seconded the motion, and on rol I cal" the following
vote was recorded:

AYE:
NAY:

Pool, Ruiz, Serur, Tuttle, Whittenberg
None

I

The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted.

In other business, the Mayor stated that the City Attorney
was working with the City Manager on a new ordinance to co~-
er parking regulations on Academy Street. Mr. Taylor said
it was the hope of the Council that all action by interest-
ed parties would be withheld until the regular meeting in
October.

Alderman Serur moved that the City purchase a receiving
radio unit for use by the State Highway Patrol assigned
to the local section of Interstate 35. Alderman Ruiz
seconded the motion. Benfits to be derived from better
radio communication between State and local patrolmen ;n
traffic control or in time of emergency were discussed.
Alderman Serur said he had been told that a good receiver
could be purchased for about $150. The question being
called for, the following vote was recorded:

AYE:
NAY:

Pool, Ruiz, Serur, Tuttle, Whittenberg
None

I

The Mayor declared the motion carried.

Tom Buckner came before the Council to request the use of
the Recreation Hall in Memorial Park for an Explor-Olympics
Boy Scout meet in San Marcos, Nov. 20-22. He stated that
over 200 Boy Scouts from the area were expected for the
weekend meeting. The Council concurred in the Mayor's
offer of a flat fee of $25 for the use of the Hall.

lH?;
