Smith appeared before the Council to request water service <br />at 206 Walnut Street, out!.ide the City Limits. He stated an old <br />tap is still in existence, but the meter had been taken out. <br />Mr. Smith wished to place his 500 sq. ft. mobile home on perma- <br />nent foundation as a dwell ing, provided he. .could get water. <br />The Mayor explained to Mr. Smith that itwas against C~uncil <br />policy to give service outside the City Limits. He was advis- <br />ed to petition annexation of his lot to the City. Sui Iding <br />I nspector Major exp I a ined that the mobile home wou I d have to be <br />converted into a permanent dwelling before Mr. Smith could apply <br />for annexat ion, in order not to be i nv i 0 I at i on of the Code. <br />Mr. Smith agreed to this. <br /> <br />The Mayor noted that Don Uzzell had been scheduled.toappear <br />bef6retheCouncil, but he was not present. The Mayor was given <br />approval of the Council for a course of.action he proposed. He <br />asked their permission, when Mr. Uzzell calls him Clgain with a <br />complaint about parking violationsonA.cademy Street, to tell <br />Mr. Uzze II to file thecamplaintwith Judge Sutton. I n the event <br />that the Corporation Judge will not receive the complaint, he <br />will be adv ised by the Mayor to go to a. court of competent'. <br />jurisdiction and r~quest a writ of mandamus. <br /> <br />Aldermen received copies of a letter from Joe C. Hutchinson, <br />Superintendent of Schools, saying the Board ,of Tr4stees had <br />accepted the City's offer of $11,372.76 for extension .of <br />util itoy f inesand other improvements in connection with the <br />constr!lct i on of a new schoo I. 'The I etteri::; made. a part of <br />the Minuies. .. <br /> <br />Alderman Pool "ffered ,a .Resolution requesting that the Texas <br />State Department of Public Welfare call an election to deter- <br />in i nei f the San Marcos Fire Department w i.shes to be coyered <br />under the benefits of the Federal Social Security Act, as <br />amended, and moved its approval. Alderman Tuttle seconded the <br />motion, and on rol I call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Pool, Ruiz, Tuttle, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. <br /> <br />Councilmen were given copies of a letter received from the U.S. <br />Army District Engineer, Fort Worth District, regarding a study <br />of the Blanco and SanMarcos Rivers,and tributaries in the <br />vicinity of San Marcos. The City Manager stated he had been <br />advised that the City wi II be 0cal'ed upon for assistance in <br />the study by furnishing avai lable maps, location and size of <br />utility systems, etc. A public hearing will be scheduled at <br />a later date. Mr. Fuller said the letter had been acknowledged. <br /> <br />Alderman Pool introduced a Resolution empowering the City Manager <br />to execute an agreement with the Missouri=Kansas-Texas Railroad <br />Company, for license to use a portion of the right-of-way in <br />connection with the extension of RM 12, and moved its approval. <br />The Resolution, which was read in full, is attached herewith as <br />a part of the Minutes.
