Roberts and Luciano Flores <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Serur introduced the application for a permit to <br />operate a taxi in San Marcos, submitted by Cornelio Alvarado <br />at a previous meeting. The Mayor said it appeared that <br />Mr. Alvarado had complied with requirements of the Taxicab <br />Ordinance. Alderman Tuttle moved that the permit be granted <br />to Mr. Cornel;o Alvarado. Alderman Froh seconded the motion, <br />and on 1'01 I calf, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Froh, Pool, Tuttle <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the meeting open for the Public Hearing <br />on the 1965-1966 City Budget. Dr. Pool asked the Mayor <br />whether any conclusion had been reached on the number of <br />Patrolmen provided for in the budget. He stated the Counci I <br />had spent many hours in study of the budget. The Mayor ans- <br />wered: "Seven PatI'o I men, the Ch i ef and the Sergeant. I fee I <br />the Police Department is under-manned, but I don't know where <br />the mpney is coming from to provide a larger force." <br />Most of the questions, and discussion between visitors and <br />members of the Council concerned the Police Department, and <br />the salaries of employees. Mrs. Carolyn Chandler, reporter <br />for The Hays County Citizen, asked whether a raise in the <br />tax rate had been considered. The Mayor replied it had been <br />the same for eight years, when it had been reduced from $2.10 <br />per $1,000. to the present $2.00 rate.
