I Approval was asked of the Council for the install- ation of a 550-gal., 250 psi Butane Tank at Phi Ilips 66 Station, Riverside and Houston Road. The City Manager stated that the Chief Inspector had approved the installation. The matter was discussed. Alderman Froh moved the Counci I approve the instal lationof ~he above- ground tank. Alderman Pool seconded the motion and on 1"01 I cal I, the following vote was recorded: AYE: Damon, froh, Tuttle, Pool, Whittenberg NAY: None The Mayor declared the motion carried. The City Manager gave a report on the acquisition of the "Slough Tract". Alderman Froh moved that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with the acquisition of the 1.3 acres of slough property that rUns through the Municipal Golf Course. Alderman Pool seconded the motion. The matter Was discussed. The Mayor stated that the I and wou I d be leased to Aquar,enaforthe cost of the property. The question being called for, the fol lowing vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: Damon, Froh, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg None The Mayor declared the motion carried. I The City Manager informed the Counci I that he had been advised by telephone on Friday, August 6th, that the necessary transfer papers would not clear the Dallas office of GSA on the property requested for a munici- pal airport at Camp Gary. He explained that there was no "hitch", but that it just had not been processed through all the sections. He was promised it would be "hand-carried" to San Marcos the week of August 9th. I The City Manager reported to the Counci I on the latest developments in the City's acquisition of "Potter's Creek Park" site at Canyon Reservoir. MI". Fuller out- lined the plan by which the City may develop a recreat- ion area at Canyon Reservoir. Maps made by the U.S. Corps of Engineers were used to illustrate the exact location of Potter's Creek Park. Pictures taken for The Record by Tom Buckner were exhibited to show the ~nic beauty of the site. Discussion ensued on the possibi lity of Hays County joining with the City of San Marcos in acquisition of the park site. Alderman Pool moved that the City express to the U.S. Corps of Engineers its continuing interest in acquiring the site.
