Alderman Whittenberg said he had noticed that many cars ignored red lights when there had been a long wait at an inter- section. Alderman Froh brought up the possibi lity of instituting one-way traffic on Lyndon 8. Johnson Drive and Guadalupe Street, previously discussed by the Coun- ci I. The City Manager suggested that consideration should be given to one-way traffic north on Guadalupe, and south on Lyndon 8. Johnson Drive, the reVDerse of the previous consideration. Mr. Fuller said this plan would faci litate bus traffic in and out of San Marcos. The City Manager said they should sit down with a map and figure the traffic patterns from all angles. One consideration must be whether the State Highway Depart- ment would agree to one-way t~affic regulations. Since they pay for maintenance on "82" (Guadalupe), the State would have to be consulted. Mr. Froh moved that the City Manager investigate whether State maintenance of Guadalupe would be affected by the City's one-way traf- fic regulation, with a Counci I decision to be made at the October I I meeting on the matter. Alderman Pool seconded the motion. The Mayor said: "We had better give this a thorough study". Alderman Damon said that completion of Ranch to Market Road loop through San Marcos should have a beneficial effect on traffic, and asked the proposed completion date. Mr. Ful fer said October 12 was the date set for opening the road to traffic. After further discussion, Alderman Froh's motion was passed by common consent.
