Alderman Tuttle, who could not be <br />present, had previously signed Consent. <br /> <br />MayorSerur read a telegram received ~ov. 2 from Senator <br />Yarborough: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"Am notified by Housing and Home Finance Agency of two <br />Public Works Planning Advances to San Marcos, Texas. <br />$8,310 wi I I be used to plan improvements to existing <br />water facilities. Total cost of construction wi 1/ be <br />$300,000. $9,000 wi 1 I be used to plan improvements of <br />streets and bridges in the area. This project wi I I <br />cost $500,000. Construction on both to get underway In /966". <br /> <br />The Mayor stated the meeting had been called to disc~ss <br />the two Planning Advances: P-Tex-3274, $8,310 for existing <br />water faci lities; and P-Tex-3275, $9,000 for street and <br />bridge improvements. The third item on the Agenda was to <br />discuss a contract for engineering services for planning <br />improvements with Isom Hale, of Isom Hale & Associates. <br /> <br />In answer to a question, ~he Mayor said that under the plan- <br />ning advance contract, the City would be required to repay <br />only that amount of the advance on which planned work was <br />actually completed. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager said that an agreement would be received <br />from HHFA, and that it would then be necessary for the Counci I <br />to pass Resolutions accepting the agreement, and naming a <br />person to execute the agreement. He said the agreement must <br />be accepted within sixty days after receipt. Alderman <br />Whittenberg said if there were sixty days in which to execute <br />the agreement, he saw no reason for the great urgency. The <br />Mayor said there was no great urgency, but he felt the Counci I <br />should be acquainted w~th the matter. Alderman Whittenberg <br />asked that Senator Yarborough's wire be read again, and the <br />Mayor complied. Aldermah Whittenberg said he thought the Coun- <br />ci I should be careful about any commitment. The City Manager <br />said, in answer to Mr. Whittenberg's question, that at the time <br />the application for the planning advance was made, the date was <br />May 31, 1965.
