<br />~ ~ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />PROC LA MATIO N <br /> <br />WHEREAS the 56th anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America oc- <br /> <br />curs on Tuesday, February 8, 1966: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Boy Scouts of America has affected the lives of more than 40 <br /> <br />million boys and men since its beginning in 1910 and has has an active enrollment of <br /> <br />over 5 112 million: and <br /> <br />W H E REA S the Capitol Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America has served <br /> <br />more than Ill, 000 persons since its organization in 1911 and now has more than <br /> <br />15,300 active Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Explorers and volunteer adult leaders; and <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I_I <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS more than 340 religious, school, civic, and other community organi- <br /> <br />zations in the Capitol Area Council have been "hartered to use the Scout program; and <br /> <br />WH E R EA S the Boy Scouts of America and the Capitol Area Council are now en- <br /> <br />gaged in a challenging program, Breakthrough for Youth, designed to make Scouting <br /> <br />and its values available to the many boys now without opportunity to be Scouts: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Boy Scout movement has proved itself as a great force for the <br /> <br />youth of the United States by encouraging the ability of boys to do things for them- <br /> <br />selves and others, by training them in Scoutcraft, and by teaching them patriotism, <br /> <br />courage, self-reliance, and kindred virtues: Now, therefore, be it <br /> <br />RESOLVED, That I ELLIS SERUR <br />{Full Name} <br /> <br />MAYOR <br />(Title) <br /> <br />of the City of San Marcos <br />(city) <br /> <br />in the State of Texas, do hereby proclaim the <br /> <br />week of February 7 to 13 as Boy Scout Week: Tuesday, February 8, as Boy Scout An- <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />niversary Day: and Wednesday.
