Watson, a prop- <br />erty owner aggrieved by the City's request: that he move <br />his fence to his own property line, see attached. Coun- <br />cilmen discussed the problem. Alderman Froh moved that <br />the ordinance be upheld and enforced. I t was agreed <br />that the Counci I would meet at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, <br />Apri I 21, for that purpose. <br /> <br />The Mayor ask~d Coundi I approval of three appointments <br />necessary to +i I I v~cancies on City boards: <br /> <br />Robert C. Van Gundy to the Citizens Advisory_ Committee; <br />W.H. Hami Iton, jr. to the Planning & Zoning Commission; and <br />J.O. "Buck" Paine to the Housing Authority Commission. <br /> <br />The Counci I gave common consent to the appointments. <br /> <br />By common consent, the Counci I agreed to continue using <br />First National Bank as the City's depository. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager asked the Counci I to amend the Personnel <br />Policy to permit hiring persons residing outside the City <br />Limits. Mr. Wolff s~id the matter had come up over the <br />interviews for applicants to fi II vacancies in the Police <br />and Fire Departments. Alderman Korff said if a person were <br />going to work for the City, he should live in the City Lim- <br />its. Alderman Froh observed that the patrolman's job "was <br />not the most attractive", and suggested that they not limit <br />applicants to those who I ive within the City Limits. The <br />Council gave common consent to Mr. Korff's suggestion that <br />the City move on a temporary basis, treating each case in- <br />dividually, and when a person is employed who lives outside, <br />the City Manager should make an effort to get him to move <br />inside the City Limits. <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter from Congressman Pickle, say- <br />ing he would contact the Department of the Defense in ref- <br />erence to the City's request that the Army Reserve Center <br />revert to the City without waiting the 24 months specified <br />in the agreement. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager presented a subdivision plat which the <br />Planning & Zoning Commission had approved, with the rec- <br />ommendation that the Counci I concur. The subdivider, <br />J.M. Johnson, agreed to build a six-inch line and to pro- <br />vide water and sewer faci lities. Alderman Damon moved <br />that the Counci I approve the subdivision plat. Alderman <br />Whittenberg seconded the motion and on 1'01 I call, the <br />fol lowing vote was recorded: <br />
