Mr. <br />Damon withdrew his motion. <br /> <br />The Mayor recognized Miss Dessie Thomas, Manager of <br />Mustang Motel. She spoke at length on the reduct- <br />ion in business to motels, retaurants and service <br />stations since traffic on the I 35 access roads had <br />been restr i cted to one - way tr'.av~.', ,The who Ie mat.ter <br />of one- and two_way traffic on the access roads was <br />discussed, with previous action of the Counci I re- <br />ca II ed. I t was stated that the ne", extens i on of RM 12 <br />might have taken some of the traffic off the access <br />roads. James Sterling spoke on how the problem is <br />handled in Austin. Alderman Whi'ttenberg moved that, <br />the Counci I request the Highw~yD~pt. to make anoth- <br />er traffic count on access roads within San Marcos, <br />and see if it might be possible to change the traffic <br />pattern back to two-way traffic. Alderman Damon sec- <br />onded the motion and on roll call, the following vote <br />was recorded: . <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE; <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Froh, Pool, Korff, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Alderman Froh said it might be beneficial to ask leg- <br />islators to assist In getting the problem solved. <br />He moved that Senator Herring, Rep. Fletcher and <br />Herb Petry, Chairman of the Highway Commission, be <br />contacted on the matter. The Mayor thankedmem- <br />bel'S of the Planning & Zoning Commission who were <br />present, for their work. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that Jack Major, BuiJding <br />Inspector, had invest i gated a comp I a i nt on Block I, <br />Lot 14 of the Rio Vista Addition concerning a violat- <br />ion of Section 16 of the Zoning Ordinance, which <br />limits the height of a fence to four feet across the <br />front of property, exc.' us i ve of corner lots. Wh il e <br />talking to the owner of this parcel of land, Mr. Major's <br />attention was called to other violations in the subdiv- <br />ision. The main violation was the erection of a chain <br />link fence on City property in front of various lots. <br />The encroachment varies from a few feet to the entire <br />portion between the property line and the curb. <br /> <br />I <br />
