<br />OFFICIAL BALLOT <br /> <br />SHALL A COMMISSION BE CHOSEN TO FRAME A NEW CHARTER? <br /> <br />YES <br /> <br />NO <br /> <br />FOR THE FOLLOWING NAMED PERSONS TO CONSTITUTE THE CHARTER COMMISSION (NOT MORE <br />THAN FIFTEEN IN NUMBER): <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Any voter desiring to vote in favor of the proposition "Shall a commission be <br />chosen to frame a new charter? tl shall scratch out the word IINo", thus leaving <br />the word "Yes" as indicating his vote on the question. Any voter desiring to <br />vote against such proposition shall scratch or mark out the word "Yes", thus <br />leaving the word lINoll as indicating his vote on the question. In either event, <br />voters will then vote for a charter commission of fifteen members. Voters <br />desiring to vote for any person whose n&lie appears on the ballot may do so by <br />leaving such name on the ballot unscratched and unmarked. Any voter desiring to <br />vote against any of such persons shall do so by scratching or marking out the <br />name or names of such other person or persons. Any voter may vote for any other <br />person or persons by writing in the space provided on the ballot the name or names I <br />of such other person or persons. No voter shall vote for more than fifteen members. <br />Failure of a voter to name a charter commission shall not invalidate his vote <br />on the question "Shall a commission be chosen to frame a new charter?'! <br />* * * * * <br />Section 6: That, should a majority of the qualified voters voting in said <br />election vote in the affirmative to the question "Shall a commission be chosen <br />to frame a new charter?lI, then, after the charter commission has completed its <br />work, the charter so framed by said commission shall be submitted to the quali- <br />fied voters of said city at an election to be called and held, as provided by <br />law, to determine whether the charter so framed by the commission shall be adopted <br />as the Home Rule charter of the City of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />Section T: That notice of the election hereby ordered and called shall <br />be given by (a) publication of a notice containing a substantial copy of this <br />ordinance in the San Marcos RECORD, which notice shall be published at least <br />thirty full days prior to the 21st day of June, 1966, and (b) by posting of such <br />notice at the City Hall and at a public place in each of the election precincts <br />of the City not less than thirty full days prior to the 21st day of June, 1966. <br />It is hereby found and determined that The San Marcos RECORD is a newspaper <br />published in the City of San Marcos, and is a newspaper of general circulation <br />within said city. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED, this the 13th day of May, 1966. <br /> <br />c~~~~~/ <br /> <br />, / <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor, City'of San Marcos, Texas <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />
