<br />1.6 That any person, desiring a Master Electrician's license or a Journey- <br />man Electrician's license, shall make application in writing to the City Electri- <br />cal Inspector requesting an examination covering such certificates. Application <br />shall be accompanied by fees as hereinafter provided. <br /> <br />1.1 That written examination shall be given the applicant within five (5) <br />days after filing application. A grade of seventy-five (75%) per cent shall be <br />the lowest passing grade. Examination papers shall be reviewed and graded hy the <br />examining board as heretofore provided for, and the applicant shall be notified <br />of the results of same within five (5) days after taking examination. Applicants <br />failing in the first examination shall not be re-examined for fifteen (15) days. I <br />If applicant is unsuccessful in passing his examination on second try he shall <br />not be re-examined for a period of one (1) year. <br /> <br />1.8 That the examination fee for Master Electrician's License shall he <br />Fifteen ($15.00) Dollars. The original Master's Electrician's License will <br />be One Hundred Fifty ($150.00) Dollars and Twenty-Five ($25.00) Dollars for <br />annual renewal. <br /> <br />1.9 That the examination fee for Journeymay Electrician's and Maintenance <br />Electrician Restricted License will he Ten ($10.00) Dollars. The original <br />license will be Ten ($10.00) Dollars and Five ($5.00) Dollars for annual renewal. <br /> <br />1.10 That in the event the applicant fails to pass the examination, license <br />fee will he refunded. <br /> <br />1.11 That the following acts, work and conduct shall be expressly permitted <br />without examination or license: <br />a. Electrical work done by a property owner in a residence owned <br />and occupied hy him as his home. Provided, however, that all work and service <br />herein named or referred to shall be subject to permit, inspection, and approval <br />in accordance with the terms of this ordinance. <br />b. Electrical work done by persons engaged hy any puhlic service com- <br />pany in the construction and maintenance of their public utility systems. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2.1 That the office of Electrical Inspector in and for the City of San <br />Marcos, Texas, is hereby created and that said office shall be filled by appoint- <br />ment made by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council within sixty days <br />after the passage of this ordinance and that said Electrical Inspector shall hold <br />office for such time as the City Council shall direct. That said Electrical In- <br />spector shall be well versed in the rules and requirements of the National Electri- <br />cal Code. Before ass~ming authority conferred hy this ordinance, the Electrical <br />Inspector shall take an oath of office usually administered to other City Officials <br />and shall give a bond to the City of San Marcos, Texas, in the penal sum of One <br />Thousand ($1,000.00) Dollars conditioned upon the faithful performance of his <br />duties. <br /> <br />2.2 That the Electrical Inspector shall not engage in the business of Mas- <br />ter Electrician as defined in this ordinance either directly or indirectly <br />within the City of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />2.3 That the salary of the Electrical Inspector shall he determined by the <br />City Council. <br /> <br />2.4 That the Electrical Inspector shall be responsible for the supervision <br />and inspection of all electrical work within the City of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />2.5 That the Electrical Inspector shall, upon application on proper forms <br />for the installation of electrical wiring, devices and equipment, and upon pay- I <br />ment of required fees, make inspections of all new electrical installations and <br />make re-inspections of any existing electrical installations at such time as he <br />may deem necessary for the purpose of the safeguarding of life and property within <br />the City of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />2.6 That the Electrical Inspeotor shall have the right to enter any building <br />during reasonable hours in the discharge of his duty for the purpose of making any <br />inspection or test of an)' electrical wiring, device, and equipment therein and <br />where such installations are found hazardous to life or property or to the work <br />of the Fire Department, or otherwise not in conformity with existing ordinances, <br />he is hereby empowered to disconnect such parts of installations or to order <br />disconnection of electric service to any building after having given notice, in <br />writing to the parties concerned, and such defective electric wiring shall not <br />be again connected until made safe as directed hy the Electrical Inspector. <br />
