The Ci ty Manager requested that Ronn i e Danne II ey be appointed Assistant Fire Marshal. He eXplained that having an assistant fire marshal would lower the fire insurance rate. The Counci I agreed by common consent to reconvene at 2:00 .p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 1966, to canvass the Charter Commission Election Returns of June 21. The Mayor announced the Mayor-Counc i" I nst itute wou I d meet in Austin, June 19-21. Dr. Pool, Mr. Froh, Mr. Whittenberg and the Mayor signified they would attend. The Mayor annou nce'd an execut i ve sess i on at the con- clusion of business of the present session. I Alderman Froh brought before the Counci I .the need for a Stop sign at the intersection of LBJ and Chestnut. The City Manager was requested to check traffic at this point. The matter of reactivation of the Park Board was intro- duced for discussion. The Mayor expressed the opinion that it might be wise to wjit unti I after .the Charter Election. Dr. Jean Smith, Chairman of the Recreation Counci I, said the two boards should be combined into a Park & Recreation Board, if a charter is written and accepted. After discuss i on, it was agreed by common consent that the appointment of a Park Board be tabled unti I after the Charter Election. Alderman Whittenberg moved that the City Barn be moved out of the Park. A I derman Poo I seconded the mot ion. The City Manager said he questioned whether the Barn should be put at the D.isposal Plant. He. said he had thought of moving it to a Jocation near the asphalt tank, but it is in the Urban Renewal area. On Alde~- man Korff's suggest ion, it was agreed by common con- sent to leave it to the City Manager's dis&retion to find a new location for the City Barn. I
