Jean Smith/came before the Council to ask approv- <br />al of an application forvOEO assistance with a year- <br />round recreation program for the City. She stated <br />Public School officials had agreed to use of their <br />bui Idings for the program. Application was for <br />$70,908.82, with the City's share figured at $13,900, <br />"in kind". After discussion and explanati6n of the <br />proposed program, Alderman Pool moved approval of <br />the Community Action Program under sponsorship of the <br />City. Alderman Korff seconded the motion and on 1'01 I <br />call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Damon, Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The City Manager requested authority of the Counci I to <br />negotiate for sale of lots acquired through tax sales. <br />It was granted, by common consent. <br /> <br />The Mayor asked Council approval of his appointment of <br />~ Ted Brient, AI Stehling and Gus Ward as a Supervising <br />Board of Electricians, with the City Manager to sit on <br />the Board for the purpose of administ~ring examinations <br />toappl icants for Journeymen's licenses. Alderman Pool <br />moved approval of the ~ppointments. M~rtin, W.R. Boucher andA.F. Aranda a~ a Board <br />~ of Equalization. Alderman Korff moved approval of the <br />Board. Alderman Pool seconded the motion. Alderman <br />Froh expressed the op in i o'n that a new board sh6u Id be <br />appointed, with the expectation that tax ev~luations <br />would be raised. The Mayor said it was hard ~o get <br />people to serve; th~t the men he had wish~d to appoint <br />had served the previous year and were fami liar with San <br />Marcos property. Mr. Whittenberg agreed with the Mayor <br />that it Was very difficult to get people to agree to <br />serve on City boards. I t was agreed by common consent <br />to table the matter unti I a later meeting. <br />
