After extensive discussion on the subject, Al- <br />derman Damon moved that the City Manager be authorized to call <br />in at least two other planners for estimates on the work needed <br />for a comprehensive Master Plan. Alderman Froh seconded the <br />motion. Upon roll call, the following vote was taken: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: Damon, Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried, and asked the City <br />Manager to give Mr. Hale equal consideration for the job. <br />It was noted that help from the "701" program could be paid <br />for over a period of years. <br /> <br />Walter Feltner brought forward a plat of his subdivision for <br />Council approval. He stated that approval for the sub- <br />division had already been obtained from the Planning & Zoning <br />Commission. Alderman Pool moved that the subdivision be <br />accepted by the Council, on condition that Mr. Feltner, at <br />his own expense, pave Ebony Street and improve several other <br />streets. Alderman Damon seconded the motion, and the following <br />vat e was taken: <br /> <br />AYE: Damon, Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />The Mayor announced that he had recently received a visit <br />from Mr. DalQuist of the U. S. Secret Service, who spoke <br />very highly of the San Marcos Police Department's actions <br />during the past visits to San Marcos by the President of <br />the United States. At the same time, the Mayor noted that <br />the traffic situation in San Marcos is getting increasingly <br />worse and charged the Council to be thinking of ways to <br />alleviate this problem.. <br /> <br />Alderman Whittenberg moved that the fiscal agent and plan- <br />ning engineer oe asked to appear at an executive session <br />of the City Council sometime this week or next in order <br />that technicalities involved in a bond issue ,nay be dis- <br />cussed, and, further, that a bond issue be called for Sep- <br />tember 27, 1966. This motion was seconded by Alderman Pool, <br />and the following vote was taken: <br /> <br />AYE: Damon, Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The Mayor presented for the second time the names of L. F. <br />Martin, W. R. Boucher, and A. F. Aranda, Sr. to be renamed <br />to the Board of Equilization. Alderman Whittenberg moved <br />that the Council accept these men, and Alderman Pool seconded <br />the motion. At this time, Alder- <br />man Froh voiced an objection to naming the same men to the <br />Board of Equilization who have not been instrumental in raising <br />tax revenues. George Reed, City Tax Assessor-Collector, <br />explained that the Board of Equilization has no power to set <br />tax values and that its only purpose was to keep tax values <br />equal. <br />
