Van Gundy, Chm., Mrs. Buford Wi lIiams, <br />Luciano Flores, jr., Alonzo Hardge, <br />Ismael 'Rosales, Eleazar Salinas and <br />James Tuttle <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and announc- <br />ed it~ purpose as an informal discussion of some of the problems <br />connected with determining the amount of the bond issue to be voted <br />upon, Sept. 27. Mr. Serur introduced members of,the t,tizens <br />Advisory Committee, and mentioned the names of t~o members unable <br />to be present: J~ck Clark and F.M. Mauldin. <br /> <br />The Mayor asked the City Manager to take over. Mr. Wo I ff sa i d <br />Consulting Engineer Bi II' Klotz h~d studied the Isom Hale Report <br />on preliminary studies of the City's public works needs. The <br />City's share~f the c6st had been'estimatedat $1,832,000. He <br />asked Mr. Klotz to make further comment. <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />Mr. Klotz said several en~ineers 1n the firm of Lockwood, Andrews <br />& Newnam had reviewed the Hale Report and had inspected the disposal <br />plant and water facilities. HEssentiallyH, Mr. Klotz said, <br />Hwe are in good agreement with the survey and preliminary p\ansH. <br />He mentioned two points on which he requested authority to make <br />further study. One was the d~sposalplant and one was on the <br />width of Olmos Drive, and the drainage ditch beside it, A change <br />of plan might necessitate the acquisiti~n of more right-of-way <br />by the City, he said. Inth~ disposal matter, Mr. Klotz said <br />further study might result in a saving of money to the City, and <br />cut down on the pollution problem. HI recommend that you ask us <br />to pursue this further andrnake application to the State for a <br />permit for additional dispOsal facilities". ' <br />The City Manager said the main reason for the meeting was to decide <br />what other things the Counci I wished to fncludein the bond issue, <br />so that the total amount of the issue could be determined. Seven <br />items were discussed, with members of the Citizens Advisory Committee <br />participating. Agreement was reached on the needs of the City for <br />at least the next five years which should be included in the bond <br />issue.
