T~e Mayor said the <br />committee appointed by the City and Chambel' of Commerce <br />wel'e making a study on the feasibi lity of reverting <br />to two-way traffic on the access roads to I 35. Miss <br />Dessie Thomas, member of the committee, asked that thQ <br />matter be tabled until the committee could work with <br />the Highway Department on a solution. Bi II Cox, Ex- <br />ecutive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, said: <br />"As spokesman for the Chamber of Commerce, our com- <br />mittee is working with the Highway Depa"t~ent. We <br />consider their present position as a 50% victory. We <br />feel we can work it out." J.C. Allbritton also spoke <br />to the question. After discussion, it was agreed by <br />common consent to accept Miss Thomas' recommendation <br />that the matter be tabled unti I further work had been <br />done with the Highway Department. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Agreement with Robert P. Lowman, <br />on use of Lowman Airport. Counci Imen had received copies <br />for study before the meeting; a copy is attached to the <br />Minutes. Alderman Korff moved that the Council author- <br />ize the Mayor to sign ~he Agreement. Alderman Froh sec- <br />onded the motion and on 1'01 leal I,the fol lowing vote was <br />recordQd: <br /> <br />AYE: Damon, Froh, Kprff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The Mayor read a request frbm the Rainbow Girls ~hat they' <br />be given permission to operate a Coke machine at lowman <br />Airport. The request was granted by common consent 'of <br />the Council. The City Manager said there was ample room <br />for the machine in the Lounge. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />\ <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Ordin~nce and read it aloud. <br />Caption of the Ordinance, which is attached as a ~art of <br />the Minutes, is as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE APPOINT1NG SPECIAL POL1CE OFFICERS; <br />PROVIDING FOR THEIR TERM OF OFFICE AND SALARY; <br />AND SETTING OUT THE AUTHORITY OF SUCH OFFICERS <br /> <br />The word~ng of the ordinance was discussed, AI~erman <br />Pool seeliing clarification of the term "personnel of <br />Camp Gary". He Was assured that the'term meant "emp loyee" <br />and COLI I d not be construed as" a member of the, student <br />body of ,Gary Job Corps Tra i ning Center."
