Kaderli <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Minutes of the Nov. 7, 17 {1 21, 1966 meetings were <br />approved by common consent. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Bids for two po I ice cars were opened by the Mayor. At the <br />request of the City Manager, the Counc i I agreed that Mr. Wo Iff <br />sho01d exam1ne the bids, check against specifications as <br />publ ished, and make a recommendation, Alderman Pool moved <br />that, if all specifications were met, the lowbid should be <br />accepted for the two cars. Alderman Froh seconded the motion <br />and on rol I cal I, the followi~g vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Bi II Cox, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, <br />came before the Counci I to present a five-point recommendation <br />from the Chamber's Highway Committee, see letter attached. A <br />full disc0ssion ensu~d. Mr. Cox said the Chamber of Commerce <br />Committee would like to work wiih th~ City's Highway Committee <br />and the Counc i I . in present; ng th i s .p I an. to the Texas Highway <br />Commission. Alderman Whittenberg said the Council had already <br />authorized the two local highway committees to work with the <br />County Commissioners.on a proposed loop around San Marcos. <br />Mayor Serur said he and the City Manager had spent two hours <br />that day with State Highway tngineers Woods and Owens, dis- <br />cussing a loop, and two-way traffic on access roads to I 35. <br />He said the engineers are wil ling to work with San Marcos, but <br />they are primari Iy concerned with safety. The engineers had <br />said if access roads were changed to two-way traffic, the ramps <br />might be eliminated. Alderman Korff asked what the Committee <br />wanted him,or the Counci I, to "come up with". He continued: <br />"There is some reason why they don't want two-way traffic - <br />let's try to find out what the problem is". Mr. Korff proposed <br />an unofficial meeting with the engineers and Highway Commission, <br />perhaps a dinner and round table discussion, within 30 days. <br />Alderman Froh disagreed with that method of approach to the <br />problem. The Mayor reminded Mr. Korff that the Counci I had met <br />with the Texas Highway Commission, and had made every effort to <br />assist with the problem. He said they should first try to <br />
