Mr. Cox agreed they <br />should not go before the Commission "naked, of evidence", <br />Mr. Wh i ttenberg sa i d: "Mr. Cox, you are aware, I presume, <br />that 100% of this City Counci I is behind trying to get <br />two- way access roads." The Mayor sa i d, in reference to <br />one suggestion in the Chamber of Commerce letter: <br />"I would hesitate to bring political pressure to bear on <br />the Highway Department. I think it might hurt us more <br />than it would help us." Alderman Korff said he thought <br />they could sti II arrange a joint meeting. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Frank Taylor, Co-Chairman of the Parks & Recreation <br />Board, came before the Counci I to request Counci 1 <br />approval of a park beautification plan, and to dis- <br />cuss next summer's recreation program. Mr. Taylor <br />said the Landscape Class from Gary Job Corps Training <br />Center had prepared the lari~caping map he presented. <br />Trees and shrubs wo~ld be donated by local clubs and <br />service organizations, Mr. Taylor stated. Park fences <br />would be painted, barbecue pits bui It in several areas. <br />None of the improvements would cost the City additional <br />money, Mr. Taylor staied. On suggestion of the Mayor, <br />the Counci I, by common consent, approved the park beaut- <br />ification and improvement plans, as presented, <br />The second phase of Mr. Taylor's request concerned the. <br />financing of the Summer Recreation Program. He said he <br />understood that $3000 was budgeted for the Summer Program <br />in 1967. He outlined a gr~atly expanded program, and ask- <br />ed that the fees collected be added to the amount budget- <br />ed. and given to the Parks & Recreation Board for admin~ <br />istratio~. The matter was thoroughly discussed. Alder- <br />man Pool moved that the budgeted $3000 and any fees col 1- <br />ected, be given to the Parks & Recreation Board for ad- <br />ministration. Alderman Froh seconded the motion and on <br />1"01 I cal I, the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Korff said the Counci I should go on record as thank- <br />Ing the Job Corps for th~ir help and cooperation. <br /> <br />The Mayor pres~nted for consideration an ordinance <br />annexing Lot 91, Park Addition, as petitioned .Nov. 7 <br />by Mr. and Mrs, W.C. Howard. The Ordinance, attached <br />as a part of the Minutes, was read in ful I. Alderman <br />Whlttenberg moved adoption of the Ordinance. Alderman <br />Froh seconded the motion and on roll cal" the following <br />vote was recorded; <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY; <br /> <br />Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and <br />Adopted. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration an Ordinance <br />annexing Lots 3& 4, College Heights, as requested by <br />
