Alderman Froh moved adoption of the Ordinance. Alderman Whittenberg seconded the motion, and on rol I call, the fol lowing vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg None I The Mayor dec I ared the Ord inance Passed, Approved and Adopted. The Mayor read aloud a letter from Burke A. Hargrove of College Station, making application for a permit to operate 20 bill i ard tab I es and 7 pi nba II mach i nes. Mr. Hargrove ism~king arrangements to lease space for the "Bobcat Recreation Center" in the proposed Ted BreihanShopping Center; After discussion, Alderman Po~l.moved approval of the application. Alderman Froh seconded the motion and on roll ca1 I, the following vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg None The Mayor declared the motion carried. I The City Manager presented a contract to be executed between the City of San Marcos and Pierce & Pierce, Architects; Mr. Wolff said the contract had been checked by the City Attorney, and he had checked the charges, which were in line with AlA standards. Alderman Pool moved that the Mayor be authorized to sign the contract for the City. Alderman Froh seconded the motion, and on rol leal I,the following vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: F roh, Korff ,Poo I ,Wh i ttenberg None The Mayor declared the motion carried. I The Mayor read aloud a letter from the Urban Renewal Agency, rem inding theCounc il that the "R i.ver ProJect" must be given an official name; Letter is attached and made a part of the Minutes. Dr. Pool moved that the Project be named "Juan Veramendi", to commemorate a prominent official, Juan Martin de Veramendi, who held grants to the land on which the town of San Marcos was la:idout. Dr. Pbolexplainedthat he had been Governor of Texas and Coahui la during the Mexican period of Texas history, and his daughter had married Jim Bowie. Alderman Korff seconded the motion,and on rollcall, the following vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: Froh, Korff,. Pool, Whittenberg' None The Mayor declared the motion carried.
