Jerri Veidt <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Minutes of the meet i ngs of Januat'y 9 and January 30, 1967 <br />wer~ unanim6u~ly approved as pt'esenied, on motion of Alderman <br />Damon and second of Aldet'man Froh, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloudpetition~ from residents of EI lis Street <br />and Comal Stt'eet, attached as a part of the Mi.nutes. Street <br />I ights were, requested in both pet i ti ons. Alderman Ft'oh moved <br />that the City Manager be directed to have street lights instal l- <br />ed at the two locations as soon as possible. It Was approved by <br />common consent. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr, T. L. Bond appeared before the Counc il represent i ng H. Y. Pri ce, <br />jr. fot' the San Mat'cos Telephone Company. He requested that the <br />City close an alley, in exchange for a like amount of property. <br />Copies of a plat showing the properties invol~ed were passed out <br />to Councilmen. Mr. Bohd explained that the Tele~hone Company's <br />faci lities were ~eihg expanded, and this exchange would be an <br />advantage to their bui Iding plans. A copy of the plat is attached. <br />Mr. Bond said he had canvassed the owners of adjacent property, <br />and had encountered no opposition to the plan. The matter was <br />discussed. Mr. Bond called attention to the fact that the land <br />to be exchanged for the alley is owned personally by H.Y. Pr~ce, <br />and the d~ed to theC i ty, in the event the propo,sa I was accepted, <br />wou I d have to carry reverti ve I' i ghts, incase the a I I ey were <br />ever closed. After furthe~ discussion, Aldet'man Whittenberg <br />moved approval of the exchange of property, subject to the <br />approval of the City Attorney, with the stipulation that, when <br />I ega I papers were prepared, the San Marcos Telephone Company <br />should bear the costs.
