TEXAS, BY CHANGING A PARCEL OF <br />REAL PROPERTY LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, FROM 'ITS PRESENT ZONING AS "R". <br />SINGLE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT, TO "CD, <br />COMMERCIAL DISTRICT <br /> <br />Mr, Froh read th" Q~i';jinanc" and moved its adoption, <br />Alderman Damon seco~d the motion and on rol I cal I <br />the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE; <br />NAY; <br /> <br />Damon, Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved <br />and Adopted. <br /> <br />Rhea, Merritt. representative of Ehrenborg Appraisal Co., <br />appeared before the Council to give a progress report on <br />the Tax Evaluation project being participated in by the <br />County, City and School System. He displayed a map col- <br />ored to show work accomplished. He stated his firm would <br />complete the City'stax evaluatiorl in about two weeks, <br />The Mayor thanked Mr. Merritt for the report and commended <br />hi~ firm for being ahead ofschedule~ <br /> <br />J.T. Brown, Executive Director of Urban Renewal, gave a <br />report on the status of GNRP, with special reference to <br />coordination with the flood control project of the. U,S. <br />Corps of Eng ineers. Mr. Brown a I so reported on the cost I <br />of widen i ng Guada I upe Street. as requested by the Cha i rman <br />of the PI~nning & Zoning Commission at the Jan. 23 meeting. <br />He read aloud a special report by Isom Hale & Associates, <br />see attached. Among those who spoke to the discussion <br />which fol lowed were Dr. Robert Walts, Chairman of the Urban <br />Renewa I Agency and res ident of the area under discuss ion; <br />R.C. Van Gundy, who spoke as a resident of the area con- <br />cerned over the traffic problem being created by the ex- <br />pans i on of Southwest Texas State Co liege, Mr. Van Gundy <br />is also Chairman of the Citizens Advisory Committee. <br />It was agreed by common consent that the City would not <br />ask for a change, because of the cost and loss of time. <br />The,Public Hearing on the SWTSC Expansion Plan was held <br />in June" 1963, Mr. Brown suggested that when the Pub I i c <br />Hear1ng is held on the GNRP, that every effort be made to <br />have al I interested or involved p~ople present. The Mayor <br />thanked Mr. Brown for the report. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced and r~ad aloud a petition for annexation <br />of a portion of Clarke Avenue. He explained that it was <br />necessary to annex this street in order to bring the Ham- <br />ilton Brothers' property into contact with the City Limits I <br />line. Alderman Pool moved acceptance of the petition for <br />annexation. Alderman Damon seconded the motion and on <br />ro II ca I I, the fo I 'low i ng vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE; <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Froh, Korff, Pool.
