PRESIDENT April 20, 1967 To The Honorable Mayor and City Council City of San Marcos San Marcos, Texas Gentlemen: We are submitting the attached Miscellaneous Tariffs for College Centrex Service and respectfully request your approval on a temporary basis pending accumulation of experience data. The basic operational concepts of the College Centrex system are shown in paragraph IA of the tariffs. Southwest Texas State College has elected to locate the system on its premises and to have the telephone company bill the dormitory students direct for long distance toll charges. Local service charges for the student telephones will be billed to the college. The SWTSC system will have Direct Distance Dialing (DDD) from all stations, inCluding those in the dormitory rooms. Initially, the system at SWTSC will have a capacity of 2500 lines. Of this number, 200 lines will be in use for administra- tive telephones and 2,156 lines will be in use serving dormitory room telephones. Every line will be a straight line. We expect to begin operation of the system in September, 1967. These tariffs must necessarily be experimental in nature, since we do not have experience data upon which to base rates. They are patterned after Southwestern Bell Telephone Como any tar- iffs for similar Centrex telephone service at the University of Texas, with Some modifications in accordance with agreement ne- gotiated with the College administration.
